Attitude is altitude. Stay positive Champ 🏆

A little thought I have on people’s comments.
As we all know rodeo is tough and everyone is eager to comment on there favorite riders post but one thing most people don’t understand is saying things the wrong way can send someone down the wrong path. A positive mindset is crucial to being a top athlete in any discipline. Many people work on different things to elevate them and one of the hardest things to conquer is the right things we let come out of our mouths. I’ve always been big on saying things like “stay on. go win. lift on your rein… drive your hips… Ride for 10… stay Healthy… be positive… you’re the best… you are a winner… etc…”
A big thing is telling them or myself what to do right instead of what not to do wrong.
When I come across posts, especially mine because that’s what I see and interact with the most, I have fans trying to be helpful, but they say the wrong things like “Don’t get hurt… Don’t fall off… Don’t let the bull/horse get you down… etc….”
I understand people don’t have any ill intentions with it, but most people don’t understand the words you let come out of your mouth dictate the outcome in your life. I strongly advise everyone to start paying attention to what they let come out of their mouth. Keep everything as positive and uplifting as you can, especially towards yourself. Attitude is altitude. Stay positive.

❤️JJ Hampton❤️
She entered her first rodeo at four years old in the flag race. She had a criminal justice degree and a plan to go to law school. Then her brother-in-law told her she was going to be the next girls world champion tie-down roper. He died in 1993. She won it for the first time in 1994.
Born and raised in Stephenville Texas, Jayme Jean Hampton grew up with rodeo in her blood whether she was ready for it or not. Her father Johnny Wayne Hampton was a steer wrestler calf roper and team roper. She grew up around legends like Roy and Bill Duvall — the greatest steer wrestling family in the sport — and would haze for them at the house as a little girl. She always tried to go along. They always tried to leave her at home because she was such a pain and something always happened when she was there. She always made it anyway. That stubborn streak never left.
She roped on a horse named Shorty throughout her youth and high school career. Then she attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville — competing on the rodeo team while earning her criminal justice degree. She fully planned to go to law school afterward. She said it herself plainly — if she had gone to law school she never would have been an eighteen time world champion. She made the right call.
Her brother-in-law Marty Yates pushed her toward the WPRA — telling her she was going to be the next girls world champion tie-down roper. She roped with Marty almost every day. Then in 1993 he was killed in a traffic accident. She won the tie-down roping world title for the first time in 1994 — the year after she lost him.
Then she kept going. Eighteen WPRA World Championships across breakaway roping, tie-down roping, team roping heading and the all-around. Twenty five national titles. In 1999 she won world titles in all four WPRA roping categories in a single season — all-around, breakaway, team roping heading and tie-down roping. An achievement nobody in the history of women's professional rodeo had ever matched. A purple felt hat that became as recognizable as any buckle she ever won.
She lost her beloved breakaway horse Fancy — named Breakaway Roping Horse of the Year in 1996 and 1998 — suddenly in the summer of 1998 while she was in the middle of one of the greatest seasons of her career. She kept competing. She kept winning. She said she didn't learn how to rope pretty. She learned how to win.
She earned her real estate license and built JJ Hampton Realty in Stephenville — a thriving business as decorated in the community as her rodeo career. She produces the annual Johnny Wayne Hampton Memorial Roping in honor of her late father — raising scholarship funds for Tarleton State students. She qualified for the National Finals Breakaway Roping in Las Vegas and at over fifty years old was still competing among the best in the world — still wearing that purple hat and still showing up in the biggest moments.
Inducted into the Tarleton State Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2014. The Texas Rodeo Cowboys Hall of Fame. The Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame. The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame in 2025.
She said it with the unshakeable faith of a woman who has never once forgotten who she was competing for — Glory to God for the longevity of my body and my career that I get to see the fruition of all this time we spent in the sport of breakaway.
A four year old in a flag race. A brother-in-law who believed before she did. Eighteen World Championships. A purple hat the whole arena recognizes.

Stetson Wright❤️ is back.

After spending the last month recovering from surgery to repair a separated shoulder and torn meniscus and PCL in his knee, Wright is set to return to the arena tonight in his home state of Utah at the Cache County Fair and Rodeo in Logan.
Wright currently leads the PRCA All-Around standings and sits No. 3 in the Saddle Bronc Riding standings and No. 6 in Bull Riding.
Now, the 10-time World Champion is back in the arena and looking to make his push toward the top of the standings before the end of the season.

Before the World Cheered for Hailey Kinsel, She Was a Little Girl Crying Alone in a Texas Horse Barn
Long before packed arenas rose to their feet and called Hailey Kinsel’s name, she was simply a young girl growing up beneath the wide Texas sky.
There were no championship buckles waiting for her, no bright lights following her movements, and no guarantee that her childhood dream would ever become reality.
There were only dusty fields, early mornings, tired hands, and the quiet sound of horses breathing inside the family barn.
Hailey loved those horses before she fully understood competition.
They became her closest companions, carrying her away from disappointment whenever the world felt too heavy.
However, loving horses did not protect her from failure.
She fell, lost races, doubted herself, and sometimes cried where nobody could see her.
One evening, after another painful defeat, Hailey sat alone on the barn floor and considered walking away forever.
What happened next was not witnessed by a crowd.
But the promise she made that night would eventually carry her from the dust of her childhood home to the highest stage in barrel racing.

Lisa Lockhart. ❤️❤️
She has never won a World Championship. She is still the greatest barrel racer of her generation.
Born November 11 1965 in Wolf Point Montana — the youngest of seven kids on a farm twenty five miles from the nearest town — Lisa Lockhart grew up on a pony in the front yard because her mother had nowhere else to put her. Her oldest sister Debbie taught her to ride with no resources and no formal training — just a horse and a row of planted trees to bend through. Lisa said Debbie is her greatest hero to this day.
She joined the WPRA in 1993 and spent fourteen years building something quietly and patiently that most people never saw coming. She hauled young horses. She raised three children on the road. She had breakdowns and long miles and seasons that barely paid the fuel. Her husband Grady believed in her before she believed in herself — telling her in 2006 to go spend a full summer in Canada and qualify hard for the NFR. She told him yeah right. Then she went. Then she came back with her first NFR qualification in 2007.
She has not missed Las Vegas since.
Nineteen consecutive NFR qualifications from 2007 through 2025 — tying the all-time record held by Charmayne James and Sherry Cervi. The most NFR earnings of any barrel racer in history at over $1.7 million inside the Thomas and Mack Center alone. Over $3.7 million in total career earnings — more than any barrel racer who has ever lived. Three NFR average titles in 2014 2016 and 2023. Three American Rodeo titles. The record NFR aggregate score in 2016 setting a new standard that broke Sherry Cervi's previous mark. Reserve World Champion in 2023 after finishing five of ten rounds in the money at 57 years old.
She did all of it on multiple horses — developing each one from the ground up with the kind of horsemanship that coaches and competitors study and try to replicate. Chisum. Then Louie — a buckskin gelding who made 85 runs at the NFR and became one of the most beloved horses in barrel racing history. Then Rosa. Then Sasha. Four different horses carrying the same South Dakota cowgirl through nearly two decades of Las Vegas nights.
She squeaked into the 2022 NFR ranked fourteenth. Then left Las Vegas ranked fourth after winning over $168,000 across ten rounds. That is what greatness under pressure looks like.
She said it herself — "I am just a wife and a mom who loves horses, the cowboy lifestyle, is a competitive person, and is very fortunate to wrap it all up into a career that has been an incredible journey."
No world championship. The most money ever won by a barrel racer in the history of the sport. Nineteen consecutive trips to Las Vegas. A career that is still being written.
