...Grief does not play fair Contrary to what you may have been told, you can't put your grief into tidy stages or boxes. Years pass, and you forget the emotions it created. You are going about your life, something will happen, and grief comes rolling back so hard, it almost puts you on your knees.
After I came home from the military, my Father once told me that "my grief was actually my love for someone leaving my body". The more intensely you love someone, the more painful the process of recovering.
But why does it hide for decades, only to reach out and find you again?
