The first week of training at the Mesa Recreation Center Park has been an incredible success. There is something uniquely powerful about returning to the "Old School" roots of martial arts—training under the open sky and focusing on the raw fundamentals of Tang Soo Do.

​The energy brought by the initial group has set a high standard for what the Blue Dragon Dojo represents: discipline, authentic tradition, and the grit to train outside the comfort of a mirrored studio.

I am a Black Belt with 30 years of experience, and I’m looking for 10 dedicated individuals (adults or focused teens) to help me build a new legacy right here in Las Cruces. Our Journey Through Closure and Rebuilding

When COVID‑19 forced us to close our dojo building, we faced the same challenge that shut down martial arts schools across the country. But even without a physical space, our training didn’t stop — and neither did our students’ progress.

During our closure, we continued teaching wherever and however we could.
Through dedication, consistency, and the spirit of our students, we were able to:

- Guide two students all the way to Black Belt, Jack Walden and Hannah Gould even without a formal formal dojo.

- Support my daughter Paige Jorge in earning her Brown Belt

- Keep our community connected through discipline, tradition, and perseverance.

These achievements remind us that a dojo is not defined by walls — it’s defined by the people who train, teach, and grow together.

Now, as we rebuild, we’re returning to our roots:
Training at the Park

We’re restarting our classes outdoors, bringing martial arts back into the community in a fresh, open, family‑friendly environment.
Growing Toward a New Building. Our long‑term goal is to transition from the park into a new indoor home — a place built on the strength, loyalty, and spirit of the students who stood with us through the hardest times.

Blue Dragon Dojo: The Standard of Excellence
​Where Rank is a Reflection of Character, Not a Calendar.

​1. The Three-Stripe Roadmap
Every belt level has three "Mastery Stripes." These are awarded individually as a student excels and meets their specific goals. There are no fees for stripes—they are earned through sweat and focus during regular class time.

​2. Testing When Ready (Not Before)
We do not have "group testing dates." At Blue Dragon, we believe every student’s journey is unique.
​The Individual Test: If only one student is ready, we hold a test for that one student.

​The "Not Yet" Policy: We will never promote a student just because "it's time." If a student hasn't put in the hard work or mastered the material, we will tell them exactly what they need to improve. We refuse to lie to our students by giving them a rank they haven't earned.

​3. Transparent Testing Fees
When a student has earned all three stripes and is officially invited to test for their next belt, there is a small, one-time testing fee. This covers:
​The new belt.
​The official rank certificate.
​The dedicated individual evaluation time with the Instructor.

​4. Why We Stay Tough
We know other schools might move students faster and get their Black Belt faster . However, a belt from Blue Dragon Dojo carries real weight. When your child promotes here, they gain genuine confidence because they know they didn't just "show up"—they conquered the challenge. They EARNED it!
