π **STAY WITH THE GAME. GRAB A WHISTLE** π
Throughout September, weβre highlighting officials and sharing the experiences, backgrounds, and passion that bring them to the court.
This week, we highlight **Clarissa Martinez**, whose connection to basketball extends well beyond officiating.
For the past **17 years**, Clarissa has served United ISD and currently works as a **Middle School Athletic Coordinator, PE teacher, and coach**. Whether sheβs teaching, coaching, or officiating, basketball has remained an important part of her journey.
Clarissa first picked up the whistle years ago and has also spent time officiating recreational basketball. Returning to the court in stripes gives her the opportunity to experience the game from a different perspective while continuing to **challenge herself, build confidence, and grow as an official**.
As a coach, she helps athletes learn and develop. As an official, she gets to stay involved in the game she loves in an entirely different way.
For Clarissa, it all comes back to a simple reason: **she genuinely enjoys basketball and wants to stay connected to the game.**
Take a minute to hear Clarissaβs story and what brought her back to the court.
Interested in officiating? Maybe itβs time to grab a whistle and see where the game takes you.
