Foggy, cold, low light morning and I was loving every second of it with this stud. Such a cool bull with an attitude to match. Would have loved to find him during the rut because I bet his demeanor carried a lot of weight with the other bulls, but I never turned him back up.

A big bull and a cow sharing the same quiet piece of mountain, the way elk have for thousands of years. No noise, no rush—just wild animals living exactly the way they were meant to.

When you spend enough time in places like this, you start to realize something important. The mountains don’t need us. The elk don’t need us. But we need places like this more than we probably realize.

They remind us to slow down, pay attention, and appreciate the wild things that still exist in the world.
