STATUS UPDATE
Due to the volume of well wishes, messages, and questions we have received, we would like to provide an update on two of our players who were injured during last evening’s game against Valparaiso High School.
#60 Connor Bridget sustained a lower-leg injury and was carted from the field. Connor is doing okay and is with his family today, pending further evaluation.
#7 Abram Lopez sustained a head injury and was transported to the hospital for evaluation. Abram was released from the hospital late last evening and, in true teammate fashion, joined his brothers on the sideline today at Kiwanis Field for the JV game.
We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to Valparaiso Head Coach Bill Marshall, Defensive Coordinator Sam Bernardi, the Valparaiso High School training staff, Valparaiso Fire Department, Valparaiso High School Athletics, and our athletic trainers, Maddie Boutwell and Abigail Pitts, for their care, professionalism, and assistance in looking after our young men yesterday evening.
In respect of the privacy of our players and their families, this will be our only update regarding their status.
Finally, thank you to everyone who reached out, offered prayers, sent well wishes, or simply asked how our young men were doing. The outpouring of concern is a reminder that some things are much bigger than the scoreboard.
We are grateful for everyone who cares about these young men and supports those who have the courage to play the world’s greatest sport.
