Important for young kids to hear and goes for any muscular athlete!
BMI was never designed for high-performance bodies.
Yet we still use it to judge competitive swimmers.
BMI is a general population screening tool. It doesn’t account for muscle mass, training volume, or what years in the water does to an athlete’s build!
So when a swimmer is labeled “overweight” on a chart?
That number is missing context.
Strong legs. Powerful shoulders. Developed backs.
All of that skews BMI.
For swimmers, what actually matters:
• strength
• energy
• recovery
• performance
