School's out on South Whidbey, and there's an unmistakable buzz in the air—summer is officially here! 🌞

As usual, it's a busy but exciting week at SIC. Bring a Friend Week is in full swing, and it's been so much fun welcoming new faces into our classes. Our first CrossFit Kids Camp kicks off tomorrow, and we're excited to show the next generation just how fun fitness can be!

We've also launched a new 8-week strength and gymnastics cycle, with a focus on strict pull-ups and a strength progression inspired by old-school CrossFit training. Expect a fun mix of strength, conditioning, gymnastics, skill work, and classic CrossFit-style workouts designed to keep you engaged while continuing to build well-rounded fitness.

Being committed means...

✅going to the gym, even when your motivation level is zero.
✅carving out time to exercise, even when other things in life have to take a backseat.
✅showing up when the weather is bad.
✅showing up when the weather is nice.
✅working out when you're tired/stressed/sad/happy.
✅being consistent even when results aren't obvious (yet).

It’s the start of a new week and a new month—there’s no better time to begin your fitness journey.

We’ve wrapped up Murph, our Nutrition Challenge, and our latest strength and gymnastics cycle. This week is a deload week, which means longer workouts and no dedicated strength component in class. (Except for Wednesday, when we will have a special bench press appearance 🎉)

It’s the perfect time to ease into a routine, learn the movements, and build confidence before summer is in full swing. Let’s start June off strong! 💪

Have you heard the term "Maycember"? It's used to describe the end of school/beginning of summer chaos, and we know it's not just parents feeling the squeeze. The best way to beat stress, overwhelm, and anxiety is to exercise. ✨ Prioritize your physical and mental health - you won't regret it.

We have an exciting couple of weeks coming up at SIC. This is the final week of Murph prep, and Murph is next Monday, on Memorial Day. We hope you can join us!

We are also nearing the end of our strength and gymnastics cycles, so this week, we'll work on a heavy sn**ch and heavy clean and jerk, and if you're looking/feeling good as you build weight, you can try for a new 1-rep PR!

Finally, we're in the home stretch of our Nutrition Challenge! Final weigh-ins are next week! Keep up the good work SIC fam. 💪

We hear so many misconceptions about CrossFit that prevent people from trying it. The most common hang-up is thinking they'll get hurt. The reality is, if you scale smart, focus on proper form, and remain consistent, not only will you decrease risk of injury, but you'll also develop stronger muscles, which, in turn:

👉Strengthen ligaments and tendons, making them more resilient to tears.
👉Stabilize joints, reducing unwanted stress on ligaments and tendons.
👉Absorb force more effectively, so joints don’t take the full impact of movement.
👉Increase bone density, reducing the risk of stress fractures.

So instead of making you more injury-prone, smart, consistent training actually builds a stronger, more resilient body that’s better equipped to handle whatever life throws at it.
