DONNYBROOK TO CLOSE AS A COUNTRY CLUB

Dear Friends:

In 2001, my father, Jim “JW” Kelly started the construction of the Donnybrook Country Club, at our old family home, formerly called “The Donnybrook Farm”. It was his dream to create a top-class golf center, where golfers could share his love of golf in his own beautiful setting. We opened Donnybrook to the public in 2008. Through the years, Donnybrook had come to be the top-rated customer-reviewed course in Berkshire County. JW’s dream was a great success. Sadly, JW passed away in September 2022.

Since then, I have taken charge. I have never been what you might call a golfer. Donnybrook was not my dream. I am now in my retirement-age years. I have been seeking to sell Donnybrook.

The ultimate thing would be for someone to purchase Donnybrook, and keep the golf course running. We have had several parties interested in the property, but none of them wanted to keep the golf running. It has become clear to me, that in order to sell the property, Donnybrook Country Club must cease golf operations. It has been a tremendously tough decision that Donnybrook will now remain closed as a Country Club and golf course.

I have been there since Day #1. I have seen many great times, many happy gatherings, events, and tournaments. I have worked my father’s dream for many years. It is time for me to move on to my own life. Thanks to all of you who made Donnybrook such a great place. I hope that in the future, just like our former Brodie Mountain Ski Resort, people will look back at Donnybrook with a smile.

Sincerely,

Matt Kelly

Donnybrook will be closing Friday evening, November 11th.

I want to thank you for making the 2022 golf season at Donnybrook such a nice season.
We really value you as patrons of Donnybrook.

Let me address the rumors:
As you may know, Donnybrook has been under contract for several months.
At this time, Donnybrook has not been sold.
We have had absolutely no contact with any celebrity buyers.
Donnybrook remains for sale.
Since there is no sale, at this time, we are still conducting “business as usual”.
We are still booking tournaments and outings for next season, with the caveat that if
Donnybrook sells, we may not be able to honor the agreements.
We are still selling Memberships for the 2023 season.
Should Donnybrook sell, we will rebate any fees paid on a pro-rated basis.

I would like to wish you all the best for the upcoming Holidays, and winter season.
Please feel free to contact us via this email at any time.

Wishing you all the best, always,

Matt Kelly
