ISO Assistant Barn Manager for Windbrook Farm in Landrum, SC
We are a small, successful hunter/jumper show barn located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, where ethics and kindness are important for every horse and rider. Our training methods are a combination of classical hunter/jumper training intertwined with the natural horsemanship methods of Buck Brannaman and Ray Hunt. We compete at local and A circuit hunter/jumper shows and have had national successes on the USEF A and AA circuits. Our farm is 95 acres and we have access to miles and miles of hunting trails. We have been an established business for over 40 years in the same Landrum, SC, location. We are near Tryon, NC-- a hub for equine activity with two historic local showgrounds-- and are just 25 minutes from Tryon International Equestrian Center. This is a part-time job with duties including stalls, feeding, horse care, and assisting with general land maintenance chores. The horses are in their stalls 12 hours and turned out 12 hours, so stall cleaning is only done once a day. Feeding is twice a day. For the right situation, we would provide a barn apartment with utilities included. If the employee has a horse, that horse may be boarded as well, with the salary adjusted accordingly.
Employee must have previous horse skills, handling experience, and be able to identify common veterinary issues (ie, be able to identify swelling, lameness, colic, or unusual behavior).
Employee must have excellent people skills to deal with client needs, a good work ethic, and must be comfortable with organizational requirements. Employee will need their own car and health insurance.
