It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Michael “Mike” Eggleston. He passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021. Mike was a District Director of Virginia AAU Karate & member of the AAU since he was 14 years old.

Mike embodied the AAU Karate program and was a lifelong supporter. When you look up the term loyalty, beside the definition you would see a picture of Mike Eggleston. You could always count on Mike to be there when you needed help. There are many who don’t realize all the work that goes on behind the scenes to make events like Nationals happen but Mike did & was someone who would always be there to help. You never had to ask him, he was just there along with his family! We could always count on them to be the last ones to leave with us at the end of the day.

He may have appeared a tough guy but he truly had the biggest heart & one of the best smiles! Mike touched a lot of lives & he will be greatly missed. He embodied the spirit of AAU Karate! Our hearts & prayers go out to his family!
