It doesn’t matter where we are, home is with them. I am their home, and they are mine.
Where I go, they go.
I drag the tired around with me and they follow, smiles shining bright. I pull myself through the hard days and they come with me, tears kissed away.
I fall into every day with less than yesterday and they join, seeing only today.
And where they go, I go.
They move into each moment however they feel and I follow, giving them what I can.
They spring into every day and I follow, keeping them safe.
They seek out the love we create and I follow, mirroring and more.
I lead, they follow.
They lead, I follow.
We lead into each other,
And follow each other home. Every day.
Every night.
Every moment.
Wherever that is.
Whatever that looks like.
Whoever that involves.
It doesn’t matter.
Nothing else seems to matter right now.
And there’s nothing better than being at home.
Not this sort of home.
Because even when I’m a lump on the floor, giving them life with the energy I don’t have, they give me life too.
And even when they are in a puddle of too-muchness, my less is all the more they need.
We are the key to each other.
Our home is a pretty special place right now. Mess, tears, chaos included.
And there’s nowhere I’d rather be.
