Good morning! As I get ready for my day, excitement takes over. I also reflect on how grateful and proud I am for where I am at and where I am going. Those hard moments were just that, moments, and I stayed the course. I looked forward to being in this space of intention, support & love. 🧡

From facilitating the artist residency at Jackson this year through Speak to My Soul, to seeing the students’ artwork revealed yesterday at West Art, it was truly a full circle moment.

Throughout the residency, we integrated social and emotional learning, history, literacy, and civic engagement through poetry, visual arts, and of course my favorite, dance and movement. Watching the students connect to their voices, explore their emotions, and discover the intention behind their art was powerful to witness.

Standing and seeing their work displayed, appreciated, and celebrated was such a beautiful moment. I know how hard they worked, how much courage it took to express themselves, and how much heart they poured into every piece.

Art gives young people space to be seen, heard, and understood, and yesterday was a reminder of how transformative that can be. So grateful to have shared space with these students, educators, artists, and community members throughout this journey.
