I honestly find with most of my clients that they are actually under eating so you think they’d be losing weight just fine.
However in the simplest of terms the equation works where if you don’t eat enough then you won’t be able to build muscle, if you can’t build muscle then you won’t have muscle to move your body around to burn fat.
Starving yourself on the other hand will also lead to you randomly binging one night at 7-Eleven like a wild animal and eating everything in sight.
Before ever thinking about eating in a caloric deficit stop and track your current diet to make sure if you aren’t already in too much of a deficit.
Chances are that you already might be.
So a lot of my female clients react exactly like this when I try to convince them to eat more.
I try to just get them to track so they can see how little they are eating, then over the course of weeks to months we reverse diet the same way bodybuilders do after a competition.
We slowly add calories to their plan until they are at a maintenance amount of caloric intake.
We get their body use to that for a few months as well as getting it use to at least 3 days of lifting and 3 days of cardio.
Once we get them use to that as a regular schedule then we will have the tools to strategically decrease calories as needed to drop some pounds.
