Since falling to Clarence 3-1 at home on Sept. 9, the Lancaster boys soccer team has rolled off five consecutive wins. Several of the victories were significant, most notably home wins last week over defending Class A state champion East Aurora, 3-0, on Sept. 22 and Williamsville North, 3-1, on Friday.

Lancaster coach Luciano Gallo credits the playersโ€™ training in practice that has helped prepare them for competition.

โ€œThey put 100% into their workouts,โ€ Gallo said. โ€œThey also listen. Anything we want to change in a game or before a game they do to a โ€˜T.โ€™ Each one knows their responsibilities and no one is trying to do something that they are not capable of. Everybody celebrates at the same level whoever scores. It is the respect they have for one another and how much they care for each other and want to win. I think that is making this team even better.โ€

The Legends battled to a 1-1 draw against a talented Canisius squad, capping off an impressive stretch of soccer.

Nikola Nikolov found the back of the net for Lancaster, assisted by Anthony Sirianni, as the Legends kept the pressure on throughout the night.

Lancasterโ€™s High School Varsity Boysโ€™ Soccer Team have made it their annual mission to rally for equipment donations to help fellow athletes in need, raising over $30,000 in equipment donations on Saturday, Sept. 26, to be dispensed by their nonprofit partner, Leveling the Playing Field WNY.

Dominic Cinelli, team captain, said the initiative helps give everyone a chance to get on the field. โ€œIt gets distributed to kids who maybe canโ€™t afford the sports equipment. We are just trying to make sports more accessible,โ€ he said. โ€œIโ€™ve met some of my closest buddies through sports. I just want everyone to have the same opportunities as I did.โ€

Tomorrow night is about something bigger than soccer.

Our Charity Game against Canisius is a night that hits very close to home for our entire Legends family. This summer, our own Roland Wenk went into cardiac arrest during the Lancaster-Depew Soccer Tournament. Because people stepped up, CPR was started quickly, and heroes were there when they were needed most, Roland is home today and doing well. โค๏ธ

Tomorrow night, our boys have the opportunity to honor those heroes, support the American Heart Association, and remind our community just how important it is to be prepared to act when every second matters.

We would truly love to see as many Legend families as possible there tomorrow night. Bring your kids, your friends, your family โ€” and help us fill the stands. This is one of those nights our boys will remember long after the final whistle.
