Francis Marion’s mother Martha Jane’s father John Bybee IV. This is the man that posted bond with Pleasant to get Bluford out of Williamson County Jail. The Bybee family traveled with the Cox family from Virginia to Texas many times starting in the 1700’s and later settling there.

Born in 1765 in Burgos, Nuevo Santander (now Tamaulipas, Mexico) to aristocratic parents:

Father: José Bernardo de León y García

Mother: María Antonia Galván y de las Rivas
The De Leóns were a wealthy family with roots in Burgos, Spain, although firmly settled in Tamaulipas for generations (TSHA Online, Wikipedia).

Marriage & Spouse

Spouse: Patricia de la Garza (born 1775 in Soto la Marina, Tamaulipas)

Daughter of General Felipe de la Garza, commandant of Eastern Internal Provinces
