Well, it’s been a while since I posted. I do have an update. Pickleball has now been in the Bedford area since 2016 when Bill Troup had a vision to have two permanent courts built at White Park. That is where the Bedford Community Pickleball Group was born. Steve said, “Where is everybody?” Nobody heard of Pickleball in this area. Steve went to the park board, and they directed him to Bedford Community Education, where Steve was directed to give beginner pickleball lessons. This was back in the fall of 2017 when we had our first beginner pickleball lessons. Mike, Betsy and Sharon were among students in the first class. We started a GroupMe app to communicate with and now we have 221 members on the app. Last Sunday we had 4 full courts at 10 am and 6 full courts at 2 pm. New courts, 8 courts, are going to be located at Carr Park, and the maintenance crews have already pulled the fences down. It won’t be long now until the contractor who won the contract, Asphalt Specialists LLC, breaks ground soon! Enjoy the pictures.
