You don’t need years of sports experience.
You don’t need to know the rules.
And you don’t need to arrive already knowing how to move, lunge, or handle a blade.
That’s what we’re here to teach you.

BCAF’s Taste of Fencing introduces complete beginners to the fundamentals of the sport in three 60-minute sessions, with equipment provided.

You’ll learn how to move on the strip, handle a weapon, and begin putting the pieces together — all with experienced BCAF coaches guiding you along the way.

Ages 8 through adults. No previous fencing experience required.

⚔️ When the lights go out… BCAF keeps fencing! ⚔️

We lost power in Lambertville tonight, but that wasn’t going to stop our Friday night fencers!

With a little daylight still left, they took the action outside for some parking lot fencing. 🤺 Then, as it got darker, they opened the big garage door and one of our wonderful parents pulled up and aimed their car headlights into the Academy — just enough light to keep the fencing going! 🚙💡😂

And since the freezer wasn’t working either… well, somebody had to take care of the ice cream treats. 🍦

No electricity. No problem. Just a little BCAF ingenuity, a great group of people, and fencers who weren’t about to let a power outage ruin their Friday night.

Now THAT is perseverance! ❤️⚔️

I can’t believe it’s been 15 years since our first disaster! We have weathered much since then. And we are still here thanks to a wonderful community and our fencing families 🙏🫶

🤺 There’s a lot of learning happening in a fencing class — and not all of it comes directly from the coach.

Fencers learn from every bout, from watching one another, and from trying something that doesn’t quite work — then figuring out what to do differently next time.

That’s part of what keeps fencing interesting. There’s always another action to figure out, another strategy to try, and another reason to get back on the strip.

And where you learn matters.

For 45 years, BCAF has introduced generations of fencers to the sport in a welcoming, structured environment where students are known by their coaches, encouraged by their teammates, and given the opportunity to progress at their own pace.
