Bucks County Academy of Fencing

Bucks County Academy of Fencing Step onto the strip 🤺
45+ years of building skill, confidence & community • Two locations

Opened in January of 1981 in New Hope, PA, the Bucks County Academy of Fencing is a privately run club, open year-round to anyone, ages 8 years old through adult, who is interested in the sport of fencing. The BCAF provides a stimulating atmosphere to study this fascinating sport, whether taking lessons as a beginner, fencing recreationally, or training for national and international competition.

After almost 23 years of operation in New Hope, BCAF moved to its location in Lambertville on September 8th, 2003. In September 2010, BCAF-WEST opened in Hatfield, PA with 12 Olympic
size strips.

🤺 One of the things we value most at BCAF is community.

Students of all ages and experience levels train together, encourage one another, and celebrate each other's progress along the way.

Some fencers come to compete. Others come to learn something new, stay active, or challenge themselves. Whatever brings them through our doors, they become part of a welcoming environment where coaches, teammates, and families support one another.

That's been part of the BCAF experience for more than 45 years.

Come see what makes our community special.

🤺 Every fencer starts somewhere.

For many of our students, that first step is Taste of Fencing.

It's a chance to try something new, learn a few fundamentals, and experience what makes fencing such a unique and rewarding sport.

No experience is necessary, and there's no pressure to be perfect. Just come ready to learn, move, and have fun.

Whether you're exploring a new activity, looking for a fresh challenge, or simply curious about fencing, Taste of Fencing is a great place to begin.

🤺 Every fencer starts with footwork.

Before students learn more advanced skills, they spend time developing balance, coordination, timing, and the ability to move confidently on the strip.

It may not be the flashiest part of fencing, but these early lessons help build the habits and skills that support future growth.

At BCAF, we believe strong fundamentals and consistent practice are the keys to long-term success and enjoyment of the sport.

🤺 Every fencer starts with the fundamentals.

In this class, students are working on footwork — learning how to move with balance, control, and confidence on the strip.

It may look simple, but these small skills are the foundation for everything that comes later. With practice and repetition, movements become more natural, and students begin to see real progress over time.

That step-by-step approach is at the heart of how we teach at BCAF.

🤺 Fencing is about much more than technique.

At BCAF, students are encouraged to ask questions, support one another, and grow at their own pace. Older fencers help younger students, coaches take the time to truly know their athletes, and families often build friendships that extend well beyond practice nights.

Over time, fencing becomes part of something bigger — a place where students feel challenged, supported, and connected.

That sense of community has been part of Bucks County Academy of Fencing for generations.

🤺 At BCAF, students learn much more than fencing technique.

They build friendships, learn to work through challenges, and become part of a supportive community that encourages growth both on and off the strip.

From first-time beginners to experienced competitors, every fencer is guided, encouraged, and challenged at a pace that’s appropriate for them.

One of the things we hear most from families is that they may come for the sport — but they stay because of the people.

Come see what makes the BCAF community special.

🤺 There’s a certain rhythm to a fencing class at BCAF.

Blades hit, stop, reset.
Students step back, try again, and improve little by little over time.
You’ll see older fencers helping younger ones. Coaches move through the room, offering small adjustments and encouragement when needed.

It’s focused, but supportive. Structured, but welcoming.

And over time, students begin to see what they’re capable of when they stick with something challenging.

That’s what makes the BCAF community special.
