Proud of our team as they traveled to Columbia for State Chess. All of them earned at least one win! I know they wanted to take first, but I am proud! So thankful for Mr. Chratier's willingness to take them and the hard work the players put in to raise money and practice.

The Lamar High School Student Council is hosting a 2025 Mr LHS pageant! Come see the men of Lamar High School show off their brains and brawn on stage! Each guy will compete in Athletic Wear, Formal Wear, and On-Stage Question. They will also fundraise for a school organization or sport of their choice so that all donations and proceeds from the event go back to Student Council and Lamar High School. We invite all friends, family, and community members to attend!
The pageant will be held on Saturday, March 29, at 7:00pm in the Lamar Memorial Hall. Doors will open at 6:30.

Everyone got their individual medals, and we picked up 2nd as a team. Another successful outing for Lamar Chess!

Tough competition and tired guys from the state game many were involved in playing in or in the band. Down our hype man, Mr Chartier! Still, came in 2nd as a team and 2 individual winners: Cory Nash at 15th and Rudy Hawes at 9th! A well-deserved break now until February.

Lamar Chess headed to Columbus, KS. While we brought home 2nd place as a team, one of our leaders, Jordan Null, won 1st place overall.

We also had Cory "Wayne" Nash, Ethan Brenneman, and Sean Barnhizer take home individual placements.

Next up, Pittsburg on December 7th. Proud of these boys!

Bringing back a bunch of hardware to Lamar today.

First place as a team and four individual medals is not too bad for our first tournament of the year!

Once again, the loudest cheering group when they called our names 💪🏼.

The weekend of chess at state has come to an end. Despite the ups and downs, it was special to see these students enter the world of competitive chess and overcome so many unknowns.

On the way home, when a player asked for an opponent to play a game of chess against, a reverberating “no more chess” echoed throughout the bus.

It’s safe to say that everyone has earned a break from the board.
