I just received a message from Coach Baldwin @ Baxter. He is advising us to go to Galena then Riverton and down to Baxter because of the road construction. We are playing our games tonight at Field of Dreams in Baxter Spring Ks. There will be 2 games starting at 6:00. We are leaving from Beef Jerky Outlet in Lamar @ 4:15. There will be people there to give rides if needed.
My plan for tonight is pretty simple. I want the kids to play and have a great time doing it. There will obviously be some changes, as there always is when a new coach takes over, but my number one priority for the summer is to watch the kids and see what their potential is. I am a HUGE proponent of proper mechanics offensively, defensively and on the base paths. We will work on these aspects on a daily basis during the season. Having a great plan each at bat and understanding the importance of situational hitting will be the primary focus at the plate. I will be trying to find as many arms as possible this summer. My number one rule on the mound is to throw strikes. If you can throw strikes and not walk hitters, you can pitch for us.
