Final team picture with Rosie filling in for Kim in the last game...Thanks Rosie since Kim would have just hurt herself more if she keep going. We ended up going 3-1 on the day and finishing in 3rd place (oh yeah we scored 92 runs in 4 games!). Definitely tired with only playing 10 players through the day in each game (our team avg age for today was 52.08 years young) :D Thanks to everyone that bounced around playing different positions all day long, I'll never get over how versatile all the people that I get the privilege to play with over years are...you never hear on team say I don't play there they just say I'll go give it my best. I finally followed up on my threats over the years and played Kathy Deeds at Shortstop in game 1 (since Tom was busy playing golf in the morning before playing the last 3 games with us) and she had an excellent game! Thanks to everyone who brought out donations for Project Lakewood! Nothing better then having fun in the sun while helping people out! :D

Yay we won our first tournament game in 5 years this morning 24-5...even though it didn't start out great as we gave up 5 runs in the top of the 1st inning. Kudos to Kathy Deeds who had an excellent game at shortstop with 6 or 7 assists!

Woo-hoo! The Mudcats are playing their first tournament in a long time this Saturday in Lakewood, CA...it's a charity tournament in support of Project Shepherd that helps support Lakewood residents in need of emergency foods, transportation and utility bills so win or lose it will be a fun day for a good cause! :D

On this day in Mudcats history 2001 - Craig Koehler throws a no hitter @ Quakes Stadium against Aftermath 15-0 was the final score...one other note it could have been a perfect game but he walked the first batter. Defensive play of the game belong to Dennis Cabana in the first inning after the walk to start the game batter hits a line drive to right field that was heading for a base hit but Dennis raced over and makes a sliding catch and then pops up and makes a quick throw to Janet Backes at 1st for a double play!

TBT time for a Mudcats team photo taken March 29, 1998 @ Fenway Field located at the Cathedral City Big League Dreams Sports Park. Starting Left to right standing is Ron Brission, Kim Guerrero (Eric Guerrro in front of her), Steffnie Molley, Eric Guerrero, Myself with Briana Guerrero on my shoulders, Dennis Cabana, Jeff Bernardino and Kristen Bernardino. Bottom row is Jessica Graves, Rob Graves, Robin Takeuchi, Lisa Von Nordhiem, Debra Bernardino and Ann Stevens. Added bonus of snow capped mountains in the background from all the rain the day before in Palm Springs! :D

Sorry it took so long to post the stats from last season...I made the mistake of upgrading to new version of software and it doesn't let you move old files forward (due to skipping a few versions) so now I need to load all 500+ games that came before again....oh well! Great season hitting but even a better showing defensively as we gave up only 96 runs in 10 games...we gave up 32 runs in the first two games but then only 64 runs over the last 8 games and more impressively in the two playoff games against the other top teams we only game up 14 runs over 17 innings of play which for those who play slo pitch softball know that is not easy to do...great job Mudcats! :D

It was an amazing season as the Mudcats played for the first time in over 4 years! We started out slow not playing well and looking a little rusty in our first game and in the second game played much better but had two rough innings at the end of the game to go down to 0-2 but everyone just keep playing hard and we started to get it going in week 3 with a 20-5 win which led to big week 4 & 5 wins over the Stars & Make in Happen by scores of 19-9 & 20-4! After winning game 6 against the Labrats we came into week 7 needing a win against Squeeze Play to give us a chance to make the playoffs...we were ready to start the game and as soon as the umpire said take the field it started pouring for about 10 minutes, just when it looked like we were not going to play it stopped raining and we returned to the field where we were informed that the rain delay would count as game time so knowing we were going to have a short game and we were visitors meant we needed to score early and boy did we as we opened up with 8 runs! Squeeze play didn't roll over though and we ended up winning 21-14 in a five inning slugfest and ended up moving up to the 2 seed for week 8 seeding round. Seeding game ended up being against Make it Happen and we were just a little off and ended up losing 13-9 but still managed to make the final 4 as the four seed. First round of the playoffs was against the Stars and was the usual hard fought game that we have with them everytime but we ended up coming out on top with a 10-5 win in 8 innings! That got us into the championship game the next week against the Bombers who we had lost too in week 2 17-9. This turned into another hard fought defensive game that we fell behing 9-3 going into the bottom of the 5th inning but then over the next 4 innings we held the Bombers to zero while we scored 6 runs to tie the game at 9 going into the bottom of the 9th inning...we then wasted little time as the first two batters reached base setting the table for a walk off hit that gave us the championship! What an amazing season!
