Babu Preetha
Dancers from KalaAlaya school will be part of the upcoming production "Banished! An Exile to Remember".
Rithani Saravanakumar is a freshman at Tesla Stem High School. She has been learning Bharathanatyam from the age of six. She feels very fortunate to be learning under her guru Mrs. Preetha Anand and is grateful for the basic foundations taught by her previous guru Mrs. Lakshmi Sanjay. In addition to classical dance, Rithani enjoys singing Carnatic music. She has participated and performed in many events such as the Geethanjali, one of the biggest Tamil concerts held in Washington. Apart from her love of the arts, her interests lie in academic activities such as Science Olympiad, after school clubs, badminton and volunteering in her community.
Ayshwaryaa Hariharan is 14 years old and is currently a freshman at Tesla STEM High School. She has been learning Bharathanatyam since she was 6 years old. She has previously learned from Mrs. Lakshmi Sanjay and is currently learning from Mrs. Preetha Anand. She is blessed to have such wonderful gurus who motivate and inspire her. She loves to choreograph her own dances and enjoys performing at multiple events and a variety of programs. Other than dance, she also learns Carnatic Music. In her free time, she likes listening to music and drawing.
Anagha Rao is a freshman at Eastlake High School and has been learning Bharatanatyam since the age of 6. She is currently learning from Mrs. Preetha Anand, and has previously learned from Mrs. Lakshmi Sanjay. Along with dance, she has been learning Carnatic vocal music since the age of 5 and has a strong passion for singing. She enjoys playing badminton and dabbles in drawing and painting acrylics. Anagha is also a growing member of DECA- a club in her school based on business and marketing.
Shruti Komethagan is 14 years old and attends Redmond High School as a freshman. She has been learning Bharatanatyam since she was 9 years old. Currently she is learning from Mrs.Preetha Anand. She is grateful for a teacher that pushes her limits so she can achieve her maximum potential to become a highly skilled dancer. Other than dance she takes piano lessons. Shruti loves listening to music, hanging out with friends, reading and spending time with her family.
Aparajitha Sethuraman, aged 13 has been passionate about Bharathanatyam since she was 3 and half years old. She has been constantly motivated since then by her parents and gurus. She is currently under the tutelage of Mrs. Preetha Anand and feels very fortunate to learn from her. She is also grateful to her previous guru in India Mr. Swaminathan for laying a strong foundation in this art form. Apart from dance, she has also extended her hands in playing Veena which is a soothing string instrument of classical music and also vocal in Indian carnatic music. She has been part of various stage shows playing the veena. Her hobbies mainly include reading books and listening music of all genre. Currently she is in 7th grade at Timberline Middle School.
Anu Dhananjay is 13 years old and attends 7th grade at Tyee Middle School. She has been learning Bharatanatyam since the age of 6. She started learning under Mrs. Anjali Raju in India and continued to learn under the guidance of Mrs. Preetha Anand when she moved to the US. She enjoys learning dance and thrives in working hard to perfect her dances and performing together with her friends at various programs around the Seattle area. Her passions outside of dance include playing western classical piano, Hindustani vocal singing, skiing and bicycling. She performs with the school intermediate concert band, playing the flute.
