Our new partner, Lake Defence Force, took over one of our projects this year. They purchased our DASH boat and completed the Whatcom County project on Silver Lake, harvesting flowering rush. It’s good to see Bob back out on the water. Nico and Alex got it done in a couple of days. Thank you Laurel Baldwin, County W**d Coordinator, for the pictures.

We have been back in Canada the past week to finish the 3rd year of a 3 year contract for the City of Richmond. Last year was a Covid casualty but we were able to qualify to enter with the new rules as of August 5.
- 18 days in 2018 to rid the lake of Brazilian elodea. 850 bags of elodea removed with occasional narrow leaf pondw**d and curly leaf pondw**d (17 tons)
- 10 days of harvest in 2019 removing 250 bags of mostly narrow leaf pondw**d and curly leaf pondw**d (5 tons) and only occasional sprigs Brazilian elodea. The city did a drawdown in 2018 which may have helped get rid of most of the remaining elodea because of a cold winter.
- This year we are cruising through the lake and should be finished by Friday after 7 days of work only picking up 5 to 10 bags a day of only narrow leaf pondw**d and curly leaf pondw**d. So far, after 5 days and 3/4 of the lake harvested we have not seen a single sprig of elodea. They did another drawdown in the winter of 2020. I’m not sure how that affected the w**d population because most of the plants are in the shallows and not so much on the deeper areas which are only 4 to 4.5 feet deep after recharging this past spring.

Making progress on a huge patch of Sagittaria graminae (Grass-leafed arrowhead) on Mason Lake. We finished our last 2 weeks here in September of last year and have put another 2 weeks in this year. We pulled 1 ton of w**ds just yesterday. One more day and we should get it finished.

A video on the morning of our last day of the season for Sagittarius removal on Mason Lake shows what we have dealt with all summer. Its a good example of the before and after along the edge of the harvesting area. There is always cleanup to do which is shown by the individual plants left on the previous day; as well as on every pass along the line during the day.
