Hi, I’m Reba
For those of you who don’t know me—I’m the owner of Tempo Fitness Studio, a mom of three kiddos, and I work in HR leadership in the tech industry.
And for those who do know me… I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’ve decided to do Dry January. 🍹🚫
My reason might be a little different than most. Later this month, I’m having cochlear implant surgery. For those who don’t know my story, I’ve been battling Ménière’s disease for the past four-ish years—a nasty vestibular condition that causes hearing loss and debilitating vertigo. I’ve already lost hearing in my left ear, and this surgery is a big step forward.
I’ll be honest—I’m terrified. I’ve never had major surgery, and the idea of a drill through my head and a magnet implanted is… not exactly my style. 😅 I even tried to cancel (they didn’t let me), so here we are.
Because of all that, I want to be at my absolute healthiest—physically and mentally—going into surgery. Dry January feels like a powerful reset and a meaningful mental challenge for me right now.
I know it’s not for everyone, and that’s okay. But if you’re thinking about doing it, I get it—and I’m cheering you on. Here’s to setting goals, honoring our bodies, and following through, even when it’s hard.
