Everyone loves a good hunting dog name until you’re standing on the front porch screaming it loud enough for all the neighbors to hear!

Before you commit, do the Front Porch Test

1. Go outside.
2. Yell the name at full volume.
3. Consider what your neighbors might think.
Bonus: Have a toddler say it many times..

Some names pass. Some names create awkward conversations.

“AKSELLLLLL!!!”

“HUUUUUUUCK!!!”

May sound awesome in the field…

May raise questions in the neighborhood.

Somewhere between the hot humid temps and the still air today, my brain checked out and went somewhere else entirely…
Heavy coat. Cold fingers. A dog working the edge of a slough. The kind of flush that stops your heart before your eyes even register the bird. Summer is fine. But November in the uplands is where it’s at!

Hearing Protection - Your ears are better today than tomorrow, PROTECT THEM!!

The conversation is shifting. Electronic ear pro has gotten good enough that it doesn’t feel like a compromise anymore. In a layout blind or pit blind situation, where shots come fast and the noise is contained, the case for protecting your ears gets hard to argue with.

Upland hunting is a different animal. The flush is sudden, the shot is instinctive, and most guys aren’t stopping to gear up between coveys. We get it. But even there, the tech is catching up and protecting hearing has become a must for all generations!
