🙏🏾 Happy National Day of Prayer from the GTE AAU family!
Today, May 7, 2026, marks the 75th annual National Day of Prayer! A day where millions of Americans across all 50 states pause together to pray for our nation, our leaders, and the next generation.
✨ A LITTLE HISTORY ✨
The roots of prayer in America go all the way back to 1775, when the Continental Congress called the colonies to pray during the Revolutionary War. President Lincoln did the same in 1863 during the Civil War. But it was in 1952 — after Billy Graham stood on the steps of the Capitol and challenged Congress — that this day became official, signed into law by President Truman. In 1988, President Reagan permanently set the date as the first Thursday of every May.
This year's theme: "Glorify God Among the Nations, Seeking Him in All Generations" — 1 Chronicles 16:24
At GTE, we believe prayer is not a backup plan.... it's the first move. Whether you're a player, parent, coach, or supporter, take a moment today to pray for our families, our schools, our leaders, and the young men and women rising up to lead the next generation!
