By creating an 18-hole golf course on the closed Lantana Landfill, Palm Beach County and the Solid Waste Authority turned a useless piece of property into a popular community asset, Park Ridge Golf Course. Originally closed in 1987, the Solid Waste Authority and Palm Beach County began construction of this unique facility in 2004. Topping 85 feet at its highest point it just may be the highest golf experience in the County, and while heaven and earth was not moved to build the course, over 645,000 cubic yards of fill was imported to create contours and cover the specialized irrigation system. The golf course was opened to the public in March of 2007 and has received engineering and environmental awards. Park Ridge was also designated an Audubon International Certified Sanctuary in 2009. Southwinds Golf Course offers an 18-hole championship course, driving range and full practice facilities, including a bunker and putting green. With its lush foliage, picturesque tree lined fairways, and tranquil beauty, Southwinds is pure golf the way it was meant to be played, with nothing to distract your game except the natural beauty of your surroundings. Southwinds Golf Course was voted "Best of Boca" in 2003 and 2004 and designated as a Audubon International Certified Sanctuary in 2009. Outstanding course conditions and friendly staff complete your extraordinary golf experience. Southwinds Golf Course features top-ranked LPGA and PGA instructors and provides affordable group and private instruction for all ages and abilities. John Prince Golf Learning Center is a state-of-the art, comprehensive golf learning and practice facility managed by Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation. It showcases 42 Bermuda grass hitting stations with two covered hitting areas, a lighted driving range with multiple target greens, a practice fairway bunker, three regulation practice holes (a par four and two par threes) and offers 16,000 square feet of practice putting and chipping greens. The learning center features top-ranked LPGA and PGA instructors and provides affordable group and private instruction for all ages and abilities. Custom club fitting, a fully stocked golf shop, snacks, and refreshments are some of the amenities offered at the center. John Prince Golf Learning Center is the premier place for new golfers to acquire knowledge and skill, and for accomplished golfers to perfect their game! John Prince was designated as a Audubon International Certified Sanctuary in September, 2013. We hope to see you on the tee soon!
