Thank you to all of those who gave their lives to provide my family and myself with the wonderful life we have and to have the freedom we so gratefully get to have living in this great country. It felt really good to participate in placing the flags for the fallen soldiers as part of the Flags for Fallen Vets at the South Florida National Cemetary this Memorial Day weekend. It’s a memory my daughter and I will remember.

Looking for a great place to relax after a day on the slopes or just want to soak in a hot bath to relax the body and enjoy some beautiful mountains scenery. Then you definitely want to visit the Strawberry Park Hot Spring located in Steamboat Springs, CO (located approx 163 miles north west from Denver Colorado). The main attractions are their 3 natural hot springs separated based on the temperature of the water. All springs are fed by a main spring which is in excess of 107 degree F. The three hot pools range from approximately 98 F, 102 F, and 104 F. The pools are constructed of natural stone with a sandy gravel floor and are separated by a stone wall. There are carved stone stairs within the pool that connect the two larger hot pools. These two pools are adjacent to a natural cold pool fed by a natural river that is easily accessible from the hot pools when you want to cool down or just want to try the polar plunge challenge. Most amenities are outdoor and non heated. There is only a heated restroom near the top of the park spring. The hot springs are located just about 7 miles from downtown steamboat springs or 10 miles from the steamboat ski resort. The majority of the road leading up to the hot springs are paved, however, the last 2 miles are on a off-road path that can get steep in some portions, so 4WD vehicles and/or snow tires are HIGHLY recommended during the winter/early spring seasons when there is excessive snow on the ground. We used the Sweet Pea Tours shuttle service (sweetpeatours.com) and enjoyed their service very much. Strawberry Park Hot Spring provides nighttime use but for adults only where you can soak in the hot baths along with a beautiful star lite skyline. Next tomahawk project during the quarantine will be the Cold Steel Pipe Hawk. This is a budget friendly tomahawk that typically is a bit more rough around the edges straight from the factory. Perfect for those who likes to put some work in to personalize their own product. The handle requires some work to get rid of the set screw dent and wood curling from the press fit. The factory edge is pretty dull. All these can be fixed with a little work. The factory finish seems better than older models. It’s not the gloss black lacquer paint that I’ve seen on older models. The finish almost looks pretty good as is. But I like the look of the Pipe Hawk and definitely prefer a hammer poll for my tomahawks. The 22 in handle is perfect for this size/weight tomahawk head in my opinion. Let the customization begin.

Day 42, I think... Spending some time in the backyard redirecting some frustration towards the corona virus 😜. But at the same time enjoying a wonderful afternoon targeting shooting with my daughter. Practicing the self quarantine has resulted in a less hectic daily life and in many ways this has been a blessing in disguise.

In the current state of affairs, it’s important to be prepared when you plan to head outside. What’s better than having your very own built in hand sanitizer on your back 😉. Make sure your backpack can adapt to your needs. But on a serious note, it’s important to be cautious and to take the current warning of the COVID-19 Corona virus seriously. Practicing self isolation and social distancing is not only meant to protect yourself, but also to protect others and allow the hospital facilities to be better able to properly help and treat those that are affected. This doesn’t mean you need to lock yourself in your home for the next 3 months. There are plenty of things you can do outside while still being responsible and safe. The Magpul Bump Case for the iPhone is my ideal protective case for my everyday carry smart phone. THE GOOD: the design is based on the iconic Magpul magazines is a real eye pleaser for many, the case provides a very thin profile design which makes it comfortable to fit in you back pocket or phone case and takes up little to no room. The material provides great grip when holding it and best part is it will provide a nice battle weathered look, but the surface is resistant to scratches. I regularly drop my phone onto the ground and this case has protected it from all the bumps. The access ports for the charging port, vibrate mode, camera lens, and speakers are all very well designed to provide easy access. THE BAD: the thing that I dislike most on this latest design for the iPhone X is the sensitivity of the volume and power button. They are so easy to activate that I regularly find myself accidentally pressing it when handling the phone. This results in multiple unintended power off/on, screen shots, and the like. But like most fi****ms in the Magpul world, this maybe just a training issue. The bezel around the screen is not the tallest. It’s still higher than the screen and will protect you screen (with screen protector) when places face down. But it just isn’t as tall as some other design (which also helps in the thin profile design). Finally (and this may just affect me), I use a magnetic mount in my car for my phone mount, so I typically place a thin piece of steel on the inside backing of the case to hold the phone to the magnetic mount. Because of the ribbed Magpul Case design, the magnet doesn’t have a strong magnetic hold on the phone (compared to my older cases which have a thinner flat backing and worked fine). But overall, this is still my favorite phone case when I head out the door everyday!

If you don’t have majestic pieces of rocks to climb in your neighborhood or just a beginner at rock climbing/bouldering, head down to you local indoor rock climbing gym. It’s a great time to try out some new techniques, work muscles you never knew you had, and a great way for kids to show off their climbing skills. If it’s your first time, you don’t need any equipment to start. The gym has all the gear you need for rent. Just need to go through a 45 minute training of how to properly belay someone else climbing up. All for a reasonable price to try it out. If you really enjoy it, then think about putting down some money to get your own gear. You’ll find kinds have a natural talent in this sport, and they are at time more fearless than their older counterparts adults/parents 😉. A great way to pass a few hours, get some strength training in, and work on your mental toughness and focus at the same time. If you feel like you are stuck in a rut in your 9-5 life and your looking for a spark to inspire you to find a new start, you’ll enjoy a new thought provoking, emotional, and a feel good movie called “Find Me” (2018) (currently available on Amazon Prime Video). The movie was written, directed, and starring Tom Huang. The story centers around an emotionally wounded accountant who with a little persuasion, breaks away from his routine life to find his missing friend. The movie does a great job in showing you three magnificent points of interest that should be on everyone’s to-hike list while also telling a captivating story. The three way points being: 1. The Narrows in Zion National Park (Coordinates: 37°17′46″N 112°56′36″W); 2. Sidewinder Canyon in Death Valley (Coordinates: 36°03′52″N 116°44′41″W); and 3.
