π Sabbath Reflections: A Word to the Church
βFor the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faithβ¦β
β 1 Timothy 6:10
This morning in Sunday school, we walked through 1 Timothy 6. What gripped my soul most deeply was the warning against a heart that is eager for money β not just in the hoarding of wealth, but in the subtle ways this love appears in everyday life.
Our teacher made a sobering observation: Christians, more than anyone else, are quick to ask for discounts. Weβre often slow to honor the work of others β especially our brothers and sisters in Christ β when it comes with a price tag. We donβt ask Apple for a discount. We donβt bargain with Amazon. But the moment a believer tries to use their God-given gifts for good, we hesitate to support them.
As a Christian business owner, this hit hard.
I donβt sell gimmicks. I donβt sell shortcuts. I donβt peddle the worldβs way of βfixingβ weight through pills, surgeries, or idolizing the body.
By Godβs grace, I teach the discipline and skill of stewarding your health for the glory of God β breaking food addictions, conquering self-image idolatry, and helping others walk in freedom. This isnβt just physical change. Itβs spiritual warfare. And yes β I charge a fee. Because the service I offer doesnβt end with pounds lost. It ends with people transformed, equipped, and capable of living a new life without being bound to their flesh.
And still β some try to bargain with me, even though my coaching costs less than a few nights of fast food β the very stronghold theyβre asking me to help them break.
We want freedom, but weβre not willing to value it.
This afternoon, our Pastor walked us through 1 Corinthians 12:12β27. Faith Baptist Church
Every believer is a member of the Body β gifted, purposed, indispensable. And I sat there, humbled, because I realized something:
The Lord has entrusted me with a very specific testimony β
to carry the scars of obesity, gluttony, depression, body hatred, addiction, and all the self-serving lusts that ruled my youthβ¦
and to now use them for the edification of His people.
Romans 12 speaks of the spiritual gift of teaching, and 1 Corinthians 12 affirms the gifts of exhortation, healing, service, wisdom, and knowledge. I see these alive in my work every day β not because of who I am, but because the Spirit distributes gifts to each as He wills, and I am simply stewarding what Iβve been given.
The modern Church is filled with talk of "kingdom work" β and yet, when that work comes wrapped in discipline, accountability, and effort, too many retreat to the easier road. But the narrow road was never supposed to be easy.
So to my brothers and sisters in Christ β especially the 400+ of you who just joined me:
Iβm not just another coach.
I am a redeemed man with a mission.
I exist to help you crucify the flesh in an area where many are still in bo***ge β and I wonβt apologize for charging a fair price to do it with excellence, compassion, and faithfulness.
The world is loud with temptation.
I intend to be louder with truth.
Letβs walk this road together. And may Christ be glorified in your victory.
