Quick reminder that we are closing down the site 8/27, so there is still some time to pick up some of what we have left in stock, including our best seller, The Amphipod!

Amphipods (aka scuds, freshwater shrimp) are a staple in the diet of fat panfish, and are a key reason why we have such jumbo perch in the Dakota lakes and other locales. Tie on any color scheme we offer for days of nonstop action! - Sticky sharp Daiichi hook - Tungsten bead head - Improved Design f...

*IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - LONG POST*

Folks, my run with Liam's Lures has come to an end, or perhaps a very long pause. Although I have enjoyed the vast majority of what owning and operating this business has entailed, right now seems like an appropriate time to bring things to a close. I value time with my family more and more as time passes, and I really want to put more focus into time with them and their well-being. My career also takes a little more mental energy out of me, and when I am home, I just want to relax my mind. More time spent ice fishing will be a nice bonus.

I have a whole lot of people to thank, and I will try my best to remember those who played a large role in the success of Liam's Lures, some who've become good friends to me, and I hope to continue to keep in touch with. First, my very supportive wife, Sarah, who has given me so many words of encouragement through the whole journey. My wonderful son, Liam, who provides me so much inspiration. Josh Schwartz, who took a chance on me by carrying some of my first flies in his bait shop. We soon became great friends. Joe Peters, my brother from another mother, who also has given me lots of support and help with his connections with his employer. Dominic Johnson, a dude that bought some of my stuff early on. Not long after, we happened to meet up in Northern Iowa to ice fish and we stayed in contact after that. He was a great help to inspire my creations and was huge in helping me promote the business by word of mouth and through Facebook. Curt Funk, who is an amazing ice jig creator. He also was a great inspiration to me. Great customers like Jeff Borchardt, Justin Gamerdinger, Cody Frank, Joe Senger, Nick Colehour, Steve Veres, Brian Hovey, Bill Carroll, and many others who all probably have more of my flies than I actually do. I hope that all of you see this post and my recognition of you being a major part of my success. And last but not least, my dear friend Joey Highland, who provided me so much inspiration, so many ideas, and so many laughs. Joey is catching all the bull bluegills up in heaven now, hopefully with one of my scuds, which he always called "scrubs". 🤣

At this time, I don't know for sure if this is the end for Liam's Lures, or if I will get the itch again to start it back up down the road. Right now, I feel like this may be it.

There are still some products available for sale on liamslures.com, but the site will be going dark 8/27/2022. If you want some flies for this ice season, you better jump on it soon!

Thank you to everyone who has ever supported this venture with money spent, kind words spoken, and all of the other things that go into making a successful business. Maybe you will see me out on the water a little more often!

The Mini Bu**er is one of my favorite baits to use in the spring! I tied this one on 3’ under a small float and twitched it back. It definitely helped fill the bucket last night!

A little preview of some crappie jigs coming down the pipeline. I'm a little later than I wanted to be, but the weather hasn't been very cooperative, anyway. Stay tuned for the announcement for these to drop!

Tied up a few dozen XL Amphipods a couple weeks ago. They have a 5.5mm tungsten head on a #8 hook, and weigh about 1/20 oz. Plenty of heft to cast, especially under a float, which we all know is a top spring panfish tactic.

Email subscribers got the first heads-up. So, most have sold, but there are seven left between these four patterns. Unfortunately, I won't be making any more of these for a while. However, stay tuned for some lead head crappie jigs that I'm hoping to start releasing mid-April. Tight lines, all!

One more batch of Cotton Candy Amphipods for ice! I've already begun with flies and jigs more geared toward open water. Starting with XL Amphipods, then Mini Bu**er Jigs, then eventually some lead head crappie ties. I may play with some ideas for walleye/smallmouth jigs, too, later on.

Have fun with the nice temps tomorrow! Liam and I are heading for sight fishing trout in the AM.

I've been meaning to share these customer photos from a few weeks ago. Nick had a great day with our Amphipods and Hackle Bugs. He also shared his fly box. He's bought more since. 😳 Thanks so much, Nick!

Hope everyone has a chance to hook up with some late-ice fish!

The metallic red Bloodworm put some nice fish on the ice yesterday. I let them all swim. I can't say enough about how well the Bloodworms have been working for me this year. There is a pretty good selection of them available on the site right now!

Next up for restock is the Slimer Amphipod. Only put a half dozen up. Slimer has a green glow head. This one is responsible for my personal best crappie. It's been a staple in our lineup.
