Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, grandfathers, stepdads, father figures, and coaches who make a difference in the lives of our players every day.

Thank you for the sacrifices, support, guidance, and countless hours you invest in helping shape young men both on and off the field. Your influence extends far beyond football, teaching lessons of hard work, accountability, character, and perseverance.

Today, the Lake Placid Green Dragons Football family celebrates and honors all the fathers who help build champions at home, in the classroom, and on the field.

Our Dragon Football players have been putting in the work all summer long! 🐲🏈🔥

Over the past few weeks, our athletes have been grinding through daily workouts and practices while also taking advantage of incredible opportunities to compete and showcase their talents at college camps across the state.

Several Dragons attended camps at the University of South Florida, University of Florida, University of Miami, University of Central Florida, West Florida University, Lenior-Rhyne University, & Alabama State University, gaining valuable experience, competing against top talent, and learning from college coaches at the next level.

We are proud of the commitment, dedication, and work ethic these young men continue to display. Success isn’t built overnight—it is earned through consistent effort, and our Dragons are embracing the process every day.

🏈 Congratulations to Roderio “Rico” Filippeli! 🏈

Congratulations to Lake Placid Green Dragon standout Roderio Lesane Filippeli on being named to the Highlands News-Sun Best of Highlands County High School Sports All-County Football Team as a Tackle! 🏈🐉

The tackle position is one of the most important roles on the football field—controlling the line of scrimmage, protecting the quarterback, stopping the running game, and disrupting opposing offenses. Roderio’s hard work, toughness, and dedication have earned him this well-deserved recognition.

Today, we are proud to recognize August Stivender, who has been selected as the Quarterback for the Football All-County Team! This honor is a testament to his leadership, commitment, and success even through adversity on the field throughout the season.

Today, Lake Placid Dragons Football honors and remembers the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Their courage, selflessness, and commitment to something greater than themselves inspire the values we strive to build every day—discipline, sacrifice, teamwork, and pride.

As we enjoy time with family and friends, we pause to remember those who gave everything for our freedom.

Summer workouts officially begin June 1st for Lake Placid Dragons Football! 🐲🏈🔥

This is where teams are built. Strength is developed. Brotherhood is formed. Championships are earned.

Summer attendance directly correlates to playing time in the fall. The players who consistently show up, work hard, and compete throughout the summer will put themselves in the best position when the season begins.

Be committed. Be disciplined. Be ready.

It was an absolute privilege to coach this special group of young men this spring. I cannot begin to put into words how truly proud, excited, and thankful I am for this group. Even though the score board may not have reflected what most would consider a win, the coaches do.

We took a group of 17 players, 8 of which have never before played High School Football, and we hung for 4 quarters against a team of 56 players.

Not one single helmet thrown, not one cuss word in anger, not one player giving up because we were down 4 scores and fumbled! Not even a 28-0 loss can break these boys!

Instead there were kids lifting each other up. Praying together as a family before and after the game. Giving 110% even though they were exhausted from playing both sides of the ball. Our Dragons made the coaches, fans, & town proud tonight.

After the game the head umpire, the other teams head coach, as well as the 2 Martin County Sheriff’s Deputies on our sideline went out of their way to seek myself out and compliment me & our team by saying “Coach you really have a class act and a fine program your running, It’s been a pleasure watching them”.

The future is brighter than ever here Lake Placid High School Football.

We are thankful for everyone in our community that pours into our program and our student athletes!
