Attention Lakewood Seniors: Applications are now open for the 2026 Emily Duits Memorial Scholarship!
The Emily Duits Memorial Scholarship was established in 2005 to honor Emily’s life and the passion she had for her family, her community, and her spirited involvement in Lakewood High School. Emily loved being part of everything Lakewood had to offer; sports, school events, class competitions, and time with friends. She was known for her kindness, her ability to make others feel included, and the smile she always shared.
Eligibility
The recipient must be a graduating Lakewood senior who plans to attend a post-secondary institution or trade school. There is no minimum GPA requirement, and all Lakewood seniors are encouraged to apply.
Award
Up to $5,000 will be awarded annually to a Lakewood High School senior(s) who demonstrates the qualities reflected in Emily’s life. The award will be presented at Lakewood High School Honors Night.
Application Requirements
• Two letters of recommendation from a teacher, coach, mentor, pastor, supervisor, or peer (only one may be from a peer)
• Essay or video describing ways you have recently given back to the Lakewood community
