The Cubs best LYAA Rock Hounds in shootout, 12-8 to advance to the 2nd round.
The bats were busy at Graham on Monday, and when the dust cleared the Cubs had an 12-8 win over LYAA Rock Hounds in four innings.
The teams combined for 28 hits, including 13 extra base hits.
Gabriel racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Cubs. He doubled in the first inning, singled in the second inning, and homered in the third inning.
The Cubs easily handled LYAA Rock Hounds pitching as six hitters combined for 13 hits, nine RBIs and 10 runs scored.
The top of the first saw LYAA Rock Hounds take an early lead, 2-0. Tyler started the rally for LYAA Rock Hounds with a single. A single by John then moved Tyler from first to third. #9 singled, plating Tyler. LYAA Rock Hounds pushed more runs across when John scored on a fielder's choice.
The Cubs didn't relinquish the lead after scoring three runs in the first inning when they scored on an RBI double by Walker and a two-run triple by Andrew M.
The Cubs added five more runs in the bottom of the second. Cade kicked things off with a two-run home run, scoring Jacob. That was followed up by Gabriel's single, bringing home Russell.
Five LYAA Rock Hounds runs crossed the plate in the top half of the third, making the score 8-7. A solo home run by John, a solo home run by #9, a two-run home run by Lathon, and an RBI triple by Mathew sparked LYAA Rock Hounds' rally. Tyler struck out to end the LYAA Rock Hounds threat.
The Cubs tacked on another three runs in the third. The inning got off to a hot start when Russell singled, scoring Cade. That was followed up by Gabriel's two-run blast, plating Andrew B.
One run in the top of the fourth helped LYAA Rock Hounds close its deficit to 12-8. An RBI single by Bryton fueled LYAA Rock Hounds' comeback. LYAA Rock Hounds' Trace grounded out to end the ballgame.
