‼️The warrior rises early and conquers the mind‼️
We are excited to announce that starting Tuesday, September 27th we will launch our new subdivision NXT LEVEL STRENGTH. It has been long in the making to expand our services beyond the field, and offer guidance in addition to what we already do with our trainees on the pitch. Ideally we’ll come to a time where we can offer in person group strength classes that will reflect what our new program will offer. Before I get into the logistics of the upcoming program and what to expect, I hope to share my perspective and motivation behind its creation.
Previous to becoming a coach, trainer, and sports performance coach, I was an athlete. I devoted much of my life in aspirations of becoming a professional soccer player. From the age of 5 to about the age of 24 I was engaged in the sport one way or another 5-7 days out of the week. I trained super hard year round, and by the grace of god reached high levels in the sport. I mention this because for almost 20 years, day in and day out, I was pushing my body. I had that go getter mentality to train hard and train to exhaustion. But now, as a coach, I see the short sidedness of that approach. Since being a player I’ve invested much time in figuring out optimal training habits. What are the elite athletes doing? What is a sustainable approach for athletic longevity!?
I’ll start by saying you need rest days! Some days it’s more productive for your body and development to just take a day to rest. I feel that till this day the paradigm that is being imposed on our athletes is that if you’re not training hard every day you’re falling behind. I’m not saying that one way or another we can’t be training with our bodies, but not every day is an all out sprint. Muscles need time to rebuild, time to recover in order to grow back stronger. If we are constantly stepping on the gas peddle when our tank is on E, at some point something is going to give. Athletes need to have a more balanced approach, to be an elite athlete one needs to know what their body needs.
