Routed through the Blue Ridge foothills surrounding scenic Lake Lure, Apple Valley Golf Course enjoys a stunning western North Carolina mountain setting. Golf course architect Dan Maples, son of famed Ellis Maples, designed Apple Valley with the vast majority of holes playing either level or downhill. Stretching to 6,800 yards from the tips, it has hosted numerous championships and tournaments. Wi

th five sets of tees starting at 4,617 yards and subtle green complexes with gently undulating greens, Apple Valley is also eminently playable. Dress Code: Proper golf attire is required on the golf course, driving range, and putting green at all times. No cutoffs, short shorts, tennis shorts, jeans of any kind, tank tops, track shorts, or halter tops are allowed. Proper footwear is also required. The use of metal spikes is prohibited on the course. On Monday, we held our first-ever qualifier for the Drive, Chip & Putt. Many of you may be familiar with the program if you have ever tuned into TV the Sunday before the Masters Tournament. It has been televised each year since Augusta National made it a marquee event for the “Grow the Game” initiative. Ever since this exciting opportunity to play your way to Augusta has started, it has grown into a huge, national contest. Apple Valley can now say it has a piece of that history.

We hosted 50 kids who started their journey to Augusta by competing in driving, chipping, and putting contests. They accumulate points in each category, and the 3 kids in each age division with the most points move on to the next qualifier.

We had a perfect day of weather for these excited families to come to our property, and they all had a blast! One of our very own, Jacob Stevens, advanced from the 14-15 boys’ group and will head to Greensboro to attempt making it to the next stage. Good luck!

Each year, the Carolinas Golf Association, made up of men and women amateur golfers, visits us to play our beautiful mountain courses. The events we hold for them are almost always sold out, as the location is perfect for a competitive tournament. Rumbling Bald on Lake Lure has long had a partnership with the CGA and currently holds 6 annual events on our courses, including the most recent Ladies CGA One-Day event that took place at Bald Mountain Golf Course yesterday and Apple Valley today.

We are proud to host them each and every season and look forward to seeing how our golf courses stack up against competitive players.

"On Monday, June 22nd, we will host our first Drive, Chip & Putt qualifier. We will welcome junior golfers ages 7–15, both boys and girls, as they begin their journey toward Augusta National. Apple Valley will serve as the launching point for these talented young golfers as they advance through the Drive, Chip & Putt competition.

If you are interested in being a part of this exciting event, please call the Bald Mountain Pro Shop or email [email protected] to sign up.

We are seeking 15 volunteers to assist from 7:30am to 12:30pm. There will be a variety of volunteer roles available throughout the day. Once we have compiled our list of volunteers, we will contact you with your specific assignment.

Training will be provided through written materials and instructional videos covering event setup and ex*****on. Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.

"This past weekend, we hosted our annual Men's Member-Member. We look forward to this event every year as it is one of the most prestigious events we hold. Our men come together for competition over two days of play and compete in an exciting format. They play a mix of holes of Captain's Choice, Best Ball, and Modified Alternate Shot. This year, our competitors were spread over four flights, each having a Gross and Net champion.

We had a beautiful weekend of weather, and the golf courses could not be in better condition. After a long weekend of battling, our champions rose to the top.

"This past Monday, we held our annual Memorial Day Red, White, and Blue event at Apple Valley Golf Course. We had 40 players come out and brave the unpredictable weather, and we were able to dodge the rain perfectly!

Each Memorial Day and Labor Day, we have an exciting event where players have to choose from different sets of tees, and they have to play 6 from each one they choose to make a unique 18-hole round. Players all have their strategy going into the day, and sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't! Regardless of the results, players get to enjoy a fun way to play a round of golf. "This year marked the 23rd Annual Ladies Invitational Golf Tournament here at Rumbling Bald, and what a great week it was!

We were proud to host 100 ladies representing 25 different clubs from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Ohio. The event featured a two-person Best Ball format. The competition began on Tuesday with the first round being played at Apple Valley Golf Course and concluded on Wednesday at Bald Mountain Golf Course. The ladies were treated to a putting contest, five meals, a night of live music featuring The Otter Dogs, and 36 holes of golf.

We are incredibly excited to continue growing such a special event here at Rumbling Bald and are already looking forward to next year’s Invitational.

A special congratulations goes out to our Overall Gross Champions, our very own Paige Sheehan and Michele Butler, on an outstanding performance this week!
