I got to do some Flite Fishing a few weeks ago while camping at Carpinteria State Beach. Stood in the water as my kids made sand castles near by. So fun.

Saturday was windy!
I had to take it out to fly.🎣
We bought 4 BIG frame-less kites!
I am excited about all of them, but I love this whale.🐳
I am planning to take the kids and go to Tilly Creek area some time this week to try out the others.
We have this whale, a fancy fish, a squid, and an octopus.🎣

I am out for a break by myself.
I needed the quiet and calming sound of the wind and the lake water.
I feel refreshed.
I am not AT HOME, but nobody is around.
I am thankful for the little break.

I think I may just keep this set in the car for spontaneous Flite Fishing like today.

It is a tiny Snoopy Pole bought at the Furniture Store in Wofford Heights. And a simple, but beautiful bird kite that we bought at Ace Hardware in town.

It is a beautiful day in the Kern River Valley, and we enjoyed our little unplanned Flite Fishing at Riverside Park in Kernville.

In 2011, a few months before this video was made, I had the privilege of meeting Heather Henson, one of the daughters of Jim Henson.
I love marrionette puppets and kite flying and this video of her puppetry amazed me! Both together!
In the back you can see performers of her group using poles to fly some of those kite birds.
Graceful and simple.
It inspired me to go and get a fishing pole to fly kites with.
It works so great!
Fun for kids and grown-ups!

We have so many places in the valley to buy used fishing poles.
What a great way to use and repurpose a less than perfect pole. Totally functional for kite flying.

There was discussion and interest this last week about creating a kite flying group in the Kern Valley.
So I am starting it.

You don't have to use a fishing pole, but I love this theme for our windy lake and river fishing community!
