There’s something so sweet about watching them begin to find their own little way. 🥹💕

A lunchbox in hand. A kiss goodbye. A tiny bit of bravery as they walk through the door all by themselves.

That’s the heart of our 💖 Discover Dance Series. 💗

Their own little morning filled with dancing, music, friends and teachers who are there to cheer on every tiny “I did it!”

Choose Discover Dance, Extended or Plus as they grow.

⭐️🎬Every Discover dancer has the option to make one of those childhood memories even sweeter by performing in our 2027 Recital. ✨

They’re only this little once. We feel pretty lucky to be part of it. 💕

(Dancers will need ballet & tap shoes and are NOT required to be potty trained.)

🍂🎂 CURRENT FALL BIRTHDAY MOMS…

Wait… her birthday is next week?

No, it’s not.

Checks calendar.

Oh.

It is.

Okayyyy. I knew that. 😂

So what are we doing?

Maybe something outside?

Actually, no. Summer is over and this is Chicago. It could be 75 and gorgeous… or snow. Not risking it.

Could just have everyone at our house…

Nope.

Why did I even think that?

I’m not cleaning the house before 15 girls come over just so I can clean it AGAIN after 15 girls leave.

Hard no. 😂

Okay, what does she even want to do?

“Something fun with my friends.”

Yes, thank you. That really narrows it down.

Maybe a cute party?

“Mom. I’m not a little kid.”

Ohhhh, excuse me. I forgot. 😂

So nothing that feels like a “kid party”… but it’s still very much a birthday party.

She wants all her friends there.
She wants music.
She wants it to be cool.
She doesn’t want anything “cheesy.”

And apparently I’m supposed to take all of that information and produce an event.

Cool.

Wait.

Collective.

THE DANCE STUDIO.

Why am I making this so hard?!

They can go there. Turn the music up. Hang out with the younger way cooler Collective staff who actually know what these girls want.

A little Hip-Hop.
Learn something fun.
Laugh with their friends.
Probably make up some amazing dance.

And no, they don’t all have to be dancers.

Honestly, there will 100% be one friend who walks in saying, “I’m NOT dancing.”

Sure, sweetie.

See you front row in 20 minutes. 😂

They have fun.

They eat cake.

I take cute pictures.

And then everyone goes home…

GOODBYE, SUMMER 2026. ☀️💛

And just like that… summer is over. WAY too fast. 😔

We were so privileged to kick off summer with the best of the best, Miss Ellie; welcomed Miss Mia to the staff, who immediately shook up that dance floor; soaked up as many hours as possible with our beloved Miss Blakely fighting tents and bags of ice; managed to spy on Miss Bridget twice 👀; and, against our will, sent Miss Josie off with the biggest hugs.

We tried new classes, welcomed new faces, celebrated our very first four—yes, FOUR—generations of sisters, brought back old costumes, lost a foot, threw a dog birthday party (who didn’t?), got messy, laughed a lot and, of course, danced!

But we also stopped.

And we hope you did too.

Breathed. Found sunshine and sand. Slow mornings, long walks, warm naps. Traveled, tried new things and hopefully let kids simply be kids.

Time away to recover, explore, experience something new and come back a little different. Because we can’t grow if we never give ourselves room to change.

Summer 2026, thanks for the chaos, the memories and the reset. ☀️

We hope you had the BEST time.

🔥MEET MISS MIA! 🔥
CHICAGO ➜ LOS ANGELES ➜ CHICAGO

She left Chicago, took on the West Coast dance scene, picked up that LA flavor along the way—and now she’s back and bringing it to Collective.

We got a taste this summer.

The kids were obsessed.
The energy was THERE.
And we knew immediately…

We needed MORE!!

🚨So buckle up, because Tuesday is getting a BIG twist. 🚨

Basically, Tuesday said: turn it up.

Miss Mia is bringing the style, the musicality, the confidence—and that extra little something that makes you stop and go…

BIG NEWS for Fall 2026! 🎭🩰✨

We are SO excited to officially announce a new partnership between Collective Dance + Skyline Children’s Theater!

This fall, Skyline Children’s Theater is bringing Disney’s The Little Mermaid JR. to Collective Dance in Lake Forest! Skyline specializes in creating musical-theater experiences where kids can sing, dance, act, build confidence, learn performance skills, and experience the magic of putting on a real show.

Skyline will offer Thursday programming at Collective for several ages and experience levels—
from first introductions to musical theater all the way through a full musical ensemble.
Fall programming will run September 24–December 17, culminating in a
December 17 theater performance of The Little Mermaid JR. 🎬✨
FALL 2026 CLASSES - THURSDAYS:
⭐ TOTS | Ages 3–5
3:00–3:45 PM
🐚 JUNIORS | K–2nd Grade
4:00–5:00 PM
🌟 STARS | 2nd–6th Grade
5:15–7:15 PM

This partnership is bigger than just adding another program. Collective believes in connecting people—not closing doors. Dance, theater, music, athletics, art… kids benefit when great local organizations support one another and families have access to MORE experiences, not fewer.
More collaboration. More opportunities. More ways for our kids to discover what they love.

Apparently everyone else got the memo that summer is ending…

We’re choosing to ignore it. 😎✌️

Our littlest dancers are closing out summer with our very own spin on the festival season — PRESCHOOL PALOOZA! 💃🩷

Dancing. Music. Games. Summer chaos. And one last excuse to keep the summer fun going just a littleeee bit longer.

Because when you’re preschool age, back-to-school can wait. 😂☀️

Always be a student. 📚🗽

“Learning is lifelong” sounds cute on a slide… until you realize it’s actually the job description.

What we knew 10 years ago? Moot. ❌
Five years ago? Honestly… some of that too. ❌

The world’s pendulum is constantly swinging, and the dance industry is shifting just as fast. If we’re going to teach the next generation, we better be paying attention.

Our goal? Don’t keep doing something simply because that’s how it’s always been done. Stay two steps ahead—mentally, physically and emotionally.

Learn what’s changing. Understand WHY it’s changing. Keep what still works. Toss what doesn’t.

Listen. Learn. Question. Observe.

You can have years of experience and still have plenty to learn.

Always a teacher. Forever a student. Always on our toes… even if it’s ONE foot. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Never a dull moment.

BACK TO SCHOOL, BABY! ✏️🎒💗

New backpacks. New teachers. New routines. And very soon… NEW DANCE SEASON! 💃🏼⭐️

We hope all of our Collective kids have the BEST first days back—whether you march right through those doors like you owned the place or need a tiny bit of encouragement from Mom. We’re cheering for you either way!

Take these next few weeks to settle in, learn the new routine, make some new friends and have the best start to a new year!!

A new school year.
A new dance year.
A whole lot of growing, learning, laughing and probably a little chaos along the way. 😉
