Here is a recent review from a Competiton B Level shooter about Pistol Mastery,
Ended up taking this class last minute and was very surprised at how much was included. If you are serious about getting faster, refining your technique from grip, sights, or holster than look no further! I shoot competitively at a somewhat high level and most classes don't really give me any insight into doing that faster - this was the exact opposite. Not only did I catch some grip help, but he also shaved .5 off of my concealed AIWB draw (hit my fastest alpha @ 1.01). There is a ton of information in a short time, I'd recommend taking notes or recording the classroom portion which then leads into a very focused range session. Absolutely loved this class and its format. Would 100% take this again after some more AIWB draw practice, the mastery patch is no joke!
Pros:
-Awesome instructor able to assist any level of shooter (I'd come with at least a basic understanding of firearm handling and holster usage to get the most out of the time).
-Format was easy to digest. You can tell right from the get go that Chad has a ton of practical knowledge and did a very good job of watering it down to a very simple level.
-Class size is small so you get a ton of 1:1 work and Chad loves answering any questions no matter how trivial or simple you think they are (most of the time they aren't).
-The egos are left at the door! Speaks volumes to learn from an instructor that tells you right off the bat that some things will work for you and make sense and others just may not. Most times instructors try to force their particular technique or style which doesn't work for everyone.
Cons:
-None, seriously - if you are already reading this just sign up already! It is very much worth it.
Some things to call out:
-Potentially high round count. This isn't a negative for me, but for a 3 hour class prepare to shoot off at least 250-300 rounds at the lowest. I'd suggest bringing more toward 500, BUT Chad can absolutely work with whatever you bring.
-Tons of information. To really get the most out of this class, make sure you record or take good notes. Some topics may not make a ton of sense at whatever level you are, but things will eventually 'click' as you progress in your shooting career. This is a class I will be referring back to frequently.
-May want to bring a shot timer, not required and Chad was nice enough to run us or just hand over the timer too! I love data and metrics and this helped me more than just get a feeling of how fast I was going. It will also help you prep for the mastery patch challenge at the end.
-Come with an open mind, especially if you are a seasoned shooter or competitor. You will find a bunch of things to try or work out.
Would love to see the next iteration of this course or a long format and I'm sure I'll be taking more training with Chad in the future!
