This seasonal farm just outside Lake City transforms into an Old West fall festival every October. Wander the maze, take a hayride under the stars, meet the animals at the livery stable petting zoo, try your luck gem mining, and browse a general store stocked with nostalgic candies and local goods. Today, we pause to remember. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

On September 11, our community joins the nation in honoring the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the families who carry that loss with them, and the first responders who gave everything running toward danger to save others.

Here in Lake City, our own firefighters and first responders carry that same spirit of service every single day. The flag raised between these ladder trucks is a powerful reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and unity that define this day.

We honor. We remember. We will never forget.

Looking for the best tubing near Lake City? Head to Ichetucknee Springs State Park πŸ’¦

Tucked into Columbia County near Fort White, Ichetucknee Springs State Park is home to some of the clearest spring water in Florida. Eight major springs feed the six mile Ichetucknee River, keeping it a crisp 72 degrees year round and creating the perfect setting for tubing, kayaking, swimming, and paddling. It's a National Natural Landmark and a true taste of Old Florida.

A few things to know before you go:
πŸŒ… Arrive early, the South Entrance has a daily tuber limit and weekends fill up fast
🧴 Pack sunscreen and leave disposable items behind, they're not allowed on the river
🚫 Everyone must be off the river by 6 PM
πŸ’‘ Pro tip: floating with a group? Bring a rope or bungee cord and link your tubes two by two so nobody drifts off and you all float together

🌽 Fall is back in Lake City, and it starts at the Rentz McGuire CornMaze .

For five generations, the Rentz McGuire family has worked this land off County Road 242, raising hay and cattle long before there was ever a corn maze. In 2024 they opened the farm to the community, and it has quickly become one of North Florida's favorite fall traditions.

There's a little something for everyone. Wander the corn maze, climb aboard the hayride, pick your pumpkins in the patch, and say hello to the petting zoo. The kids can bounce on the jumping pad, race through the corn pits, and fly down the zip lines while the whole family soaks up that cool country air.

The maze is open weekends from September 12 through November 8, right here in Columbia County. Come make some memories with us this fall.

If these walls could talk. πŸ‘€

The Blanche has stood at the heart of downtown Lake City since 1902, back when it was the most glamorous hotel in the state and so far ahead of its time that it housed the first commercial elevator in Florida. Sitting along old Highway 441, the "Gateway to Florida," it welcomed some unforgettable guests over the years, including Al Capone and Johnny Cash.

The hotel closed its doors in 1967, and for decades the grand old building waited. Today, after a stunning restoration, The Blanche has been returned to its former glory as the centerpiece of a vibrant downtown, its 1902 tile floors and grand staircase still intact.
