The Colorado Avalanche made another significant trade on Thursday. According to Sportsnet’s Elliote Friedman, Valeri Nichushkin is on his way to the Columbus Blue Jackets for a draft pick.
Nichushkin, 30, was one of the longest tenured Avalanche players before the move.

The Colorado Avalanche traded restricted free agent Jack Drury to the Nashville Predators, today.
The full deal is Drury, Chase Bradley, and a 2029 third-round draft pick for young forwards Fedor Svechkov and Zachary L’Heureux.
Both Svechkov and L’Heureux were taken in the first round in 2021, selected 19th and 27th overall.

Report: Avalanche Trade Ross Colton to Nashville Predators

The Colorado Avalanche are making their first move of the offseason, and they’re linking up with an old friend to make it happen.
According to Sportsnet’s NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Avs are sending Ross Colton to the Nashville Predators, who are run by former Avalanche general manager Chris MacFarland.
Friedman said the Avs are expected to receive draft picks back as compensation, although nothing has officially been announced.
Colton was entered the final season of a four-year contract he signed with the Avalanche in summer 2023. His $4 million cap hit coming off the books will likely help the Avs allocate dollars towards their defense core.

The Colorado Eagles dropped Game 7 of the Western Conference Final at home to the Chicago Wolves on Monday. The 4-3 series loss was the same as the score. The Eagles, who are the Avalanche’s AHL affiliate, lost Game 6 on home ice despite leading 2-0 in that contest.

AVS SIGN RUSSIAN GOALIE TO AN ENTRY LEVEL DEAL

The Colorado Avalanche added to their goaltending pipeline on Monday, signing undrafted goalie Nikita Novosyolov to a two-year, entry-level contract.
Novosyolov, 21, spent most of the 2025-26 season with the second-tier Russian league (VHL) playing for Gornyak-UGMK. He was 22-10-8 with a .932 save percentage and three shutouts in 40 regular-season games. Novosyolov ranked sixth in wins and 10th in save percentage.
In the playoffs, he was 4-7 with a .924 save percentage. Listed at 6-foot-2, 172 pounds, Novosyolov also appeared in three KHL games with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg.
Novosyolov has been teammates with Avalanche prospect Nikita Ishimnikov in the Avtomobilist system since 2022-23.
It’s unclear, as of now, what the team plans to do with him in 2026-27, whether he’ll stay in Russia on loan or play in North America.
Novosyolov joins an Avalanche system that, for next season, already has Mackenzie Blackwood, Scott Wedgewood, Trent Miner, Isak Posch, and Ilya Nabokov under contact.
