Dear Community:

You might have noticed the changes at The Sportsman in Lake City this past month. We wanted to let you know that we have sold the store, and the new owners took over on April 22nd. After over two decades as The Sportsman’s custodians, we felt it was time to pass this 66-year-old business to the next generation.

New owners, Jason Knotts and Bria Molock, are experienced retailers, avid fly fishers, and have been visiting Lake City since they were youngsters. They are energetic and knowledgeable and will bring fresh vitality and vision to this iconic local institution. They intend to operate the store similarly to us, and are already making improvements to ensure they meet your needs.

Our wonderful staff is returning this year as well, so if you already have a service reservation, don’t fear, it is on the books. If you want to book a trip, you can still call, email, or use the online reservation system as usual. Jason and Bria are happy to help you.

We are so appreciative of your patronage and support throughout all these years. It has been a highlight and honor for us to befriend and serve you. We can’t believe how quickly time has flown by, but you have made our work at the store fun and fulfilling.

What exactly the future holds for us is something we are still contemplating. We will be in town at our house, working on it because the years are showing. Suffice to say that the years are showing on us too! We count ourselves as profoundly lucky to have lived and worked in Lake City for over two decades. We have been able to raise our son here, and words can’t express how wonderful that has been.

For now, we are letting the transition sink in, and our future road reveal itself to us naturally. We hope and trust we will see you around.
