We have wrapped up our youth season as State NYWA has taken place over the past few weekends for boys and girls.

This year we had 4 wrestlers take part in the state tournament:

* Letti Walsh competed in the Girls 1st-2nd grade 57lb division. She finished the tournament 3-0 with 3 pins in a total of 65 seconds! Not only is Letti a State Champion 🥇, but she was named OUTSTANDING WRESTLER 🏆! What an accomplishment!

* Claire Halder competed in the Girls 5th-6th grade 120lb division. She finished 2-1 and ends her year as a State Runner-Up 🥈! Claire is a 2-time state finalist!

* Romeo Lopez Grisim competed in the Kindergarten 60lb division. Romeo finished 1-2 for the event.

* Matthew Thompson competed in the 1st-2nd Grade 50lb division. His record for the tournament was 2-2.

Congrats to all 4 for such a great season! These wrestlers worked so hard all season long and making the state tournament is something to be proud of. This is also very inspiring for all of our youth wrestlers, let’s keep it going!

Thank you to all of our coaches, parents, and wrestlers for such a great season! The future is bright, go Tigers!

Congrats to all of our wrestlers who competed at NYWA Regions this past weekend. We continue to see our participation numbers increase. Just 4 years ago, we had 0 participants at NYWA Regions. This year we had 12, plus another who qualified. Nice work Tigers, let’s keep it going!

There are two more NYWA District Qualifying tournaments this week: Friday at PEM and Saturday at Stewartville. These tournaments will be your last chance to qualify for the Region 1 tournament. Remember, you must have an NYWA membership to compete in these events (can be purchased on their website).

The first Region 1 District Qualifier for NYWA is this Sunday in Austin. I have attached the info. Remember, you need to have an NYWA membership prior to Sunday’s tournament. You can purchase this on the NYWA website. The cost is $30.

Congrats to all of the varsity wrestlers as they just completed the section tournament, and way to go Benny!

Benny will now wrestle at the state tournament. The first round for Class AA individuals starts at 9am on Thursday at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul. If you can’t make it there in person, you can stream the matches on NSPN.
