OK, you can rant and rage that this arrest was unconstitutional. However, until we change the laws, you will go to jail if you do the same things this man did. Get off your keyboard and get out and support a 2nd Amendment candidate and 2nd Amendment organizations.

Money support is great, but a candidate would appreciate time and effort. Find your 2nd Amendment candidate. Get them on the primary ballot and be selected in the primary election. Then, support them in the general election.

Check out this story! At first, it seems like a good story for our 2nd Amendment rights, but look closely.

The armed citizen took some sound actions. First, he backtracked and got behind some shelves. We are tough to seek cover when possible. Next, drawing his gun, he fired seven shots at the robber, striking the robber in the arm, back, and face. We don't know how accurate the citizen was. Was it seven shots and 3 hits, or seven shots and seven hit in 3 places? Let's give the citizen the benefit of the double.

Next, the armed citizen ran to his car to get another loaded magazine to hold held the wounded suspect at gunpoint until police arrived. My question is, where was his spare magazine for his primary EDC? You’ll also notice that when he drew his gun, the holster came out with it. As a result, the citizen had to pull the holster off the gun before using it. You should always carry a secure holster that allows you to draw your gun without pulling the holster out with it.

This leads us to the question was the shooting justified? At first glance, it seems so. However, in his statement to the police, the armed citizen admitted that he didn’t see the box cutter the suspect was armed with. He only saw the look of fear on the clerk’s face. This shows why it is best to let your lawyer do the talking even if you think it was a good shoot.

I know it is easy to play Monday quarterback. The purpose of my comments was not to blame the citizen. They were to point out the need to review your EDC knowledge and skills. The time to work the bugs out of your draw, shooting skills, and reload skills is in practice, not in the middle of a shooting. Have you been trained on what to say to the police? Do you have self-defense insurance?

Get trained.
Practice.
Do mental walk-throughs of scenarios.
Be ready.
Carry reasonable.

The gun grabbers are just waiting for us to make a mistake.

Congress has the power to limit the power of the ATF. Instead, they use politician talk to justify not taking action. It is sad that they get on TV and tell us how they support us to get our votes. However, they always have a reason why a bill to limit the power of the ATF cannot pass.

Do you have an AR pistol? How did you comply? STOP!. That is a rhetorical question. I refuse to do the ATF's job and collect information on gun owners. The purpose of the question was to grab your attention.

Some have complied with the ATF's ruling by modifying their pistol so it no longer falls under the ATF's ruling. The AFT has no way of knowing who they are.

Some have complied with the ATF's ruling by registering their pistol as an SBR. Sadly, they are now in the ATF's database.

The largest number has silent git the ATF the middle finger. There are risks with this action. There are always risks when one stands up to a government overreach. This group is standing up for our conditional rights and deserves our thanks. We also need to support them by voting out the politicians that are giving the ATF the power to issue these rulings.

P.S. Aren't you glad you joined Gun Owners of America, Fi****ms Policy Coalition, or Second Amendment Foundation. Not only do you get the satisfaction of knowing you are supporting the groups that are fighting the legal battle, but you also get cover from the ATF on this ruling.

Support the groups that are fighting your legal battles.
Support the politicians that are supporting the 2nd amendment.
Get out in the primaries and vote out the politicians that are not supporting the 2nd amendment. It is too late in the general elections when you are forced to select the lesser of two evils.

We don't know the daughter's training, but it must have been at some level besides basic firearm training. Even in this stressful situation, she armed herself and returned fire, striking the intruder in the shoulder.

I encourage you to exercise your 2nd amendment rights to arm yourself. However, a firearm without proper training is just a dangerous paperweight. However, don't stop there—practice, dry fire, and at the range.

Don't let when you are faced with the intruder be the first time you prick up your firearm. Couple your training and practice with mentally walking through how you would handle a situation. Then do an actual walk-through with an unloaded firearm to comment your plan to physical memory.

The next to last thing I want to do is to have to shoot someone in self-defense. The last thing I want is to be shot because I didn't prepare myself.

What would you do if you were in this woman's position? Under Florida law, you can not use deadly force to defend personal property. So is she quality? Wait a minute. Florida law allows you to use deadly force if you are in immediate danger of grievous bodily harm. So her shooting is justified, right. But is the danger immediate? The attacker was breaking the passenger side window. Couldn't she have exited the car and fled? What about the Stand-your-ground defense?

Is your head spinning? This is a classic case of how self-defense situations are so tangled. If you are going to daily carry, get yourself trained. I am not talking about shooting skills. Remember self-defense insurance. If you are involved in a situation like this lady, you will want someone who understands self-defense law a lot better than you do.

The deadline for having a brace attached to your AR pistol is just around the corner. What are your options? You have six options.

Scenario 1: Turn in the entire firearm with the attached ‘‘stabilizing brace’’ to ATF (Who would do that?);
Scenario 2: Destroy the whole firearm (Again, why would anyone do that?);
Scenario 3: Convert the short-barreled rifle into a long-barreled rifle (And get rid of the short barrel, because if you keep it, that is probably still “constructive possession.”);
Scenario 4: Apply to register the weapon under the NFA (Paperwork must be filed before May 31, and there are other factors involved, so do your homework.); or
Scenario 5: Permanently remove and dispose of, or alter, the ‘‘stabilizing brace’’ from the firearm so it cannot be reattached. (Emphasis added.)
Scenario 6: Insist that unconstitutional laws are already null and void! (Remember that hundreds of people rotting in prison acted on a similar belief).

OK, let's admit the first 3 are non-starters. The fourth is very complicated and involves giving the ATF personal information that you might need to be more comfortable with. If you chose the fifth, be very careful what you do with the brace that you removed. I can't suggest the sixth option, unfortunately. While I support the 2nd Amendment, I would rather express my support in a way that wouldn't land me in jail. There are so many better ways to support the 2nd Amendment.

Yes, I know that the NSSF, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, is motivated by the bottom line of firearm manufacturers. However, we need to support them. If they lose, we could have a 2nd Admenenr right that we cannot exercise because the manufacturers have been sued out of existence.

The law encourages civil suits against the firearm industry for the damages caused by the criminal actions of remote third parties.

Don't you find it strange that American citizens are arming themselves in record numbers as the Biden administration works to strip us of our 2nd Amendment rights? Analysis of sales indicates the primary motivator of the average citizen is self-defense. This motivation is good, but if these new armed citizens don't change their voting habits, they will be stripped of their rights. How often have you heard someone say they support the 2nd Amendment, but we need sensible background checks to stop mass shootings. Do you have friends that claim to support the 2nd Amendment but they continue to vote for politicians that support red law, age restrictions, and other actions by the government to restrict our rights. We can not demand the right to arm ourselves for self-defense while demanding the government restrict the 2nd Amendment right because they have scared us into believing we must disarm the public to be safe. We can not let the government tell us that we don't need to be armed because the police will protect us at the same time, defund the police.
