I figured out the secret to sales at 14 years old...
FBLA candle fundraiser.

Everyone else was saying "Would you like to buy a candle?"
I said something different.

-To the wife: "Picture that warm baked apple pie smell filling the house when your husband walks in from a long day."
-To the husband: "Want to surprise your wife? Have the house smelling amazing when she gets home. She'll notice."
-And then the close:
"Your support is sending me to state. I'm representing YOU there. But I can only go if I win. Will you help me?"
I outsold second place by 3-to-1.
Not because I worked harder. Not because I had a better product.

Because I understood something most people never figure out:
Nobody buys the thing. They buy what the thing DOES for them.
Two years later: top salesperson in the state at Sears, yes, at 16. Same principle.
I've spent 25 years refining this into a system. And I put it all in a free playbook.
