Quote; “The Career Institute helps you figure out what you want to do in your life.”
This is Ashley Moore; she feels she is successful today because she is independent in her everyday life such as school and work. She likes to take on responsibilities that a normal 20 year old would wait to take on later in life! Due to having this urge to succeed she does anything and everything to get her life together faster than a normal young adolescent.
Ashley heard about the Career Institute through Facebook, while just doing some general browsing. She clicked on the link right away she was intrigued and never looked back. The Career Institute has helped her become successful by planning for her future in many ways. One way is by informing her on how important it is to be wise about the career you choose to pursuit. Ashley say’s “Many careers are not in demand, so if a person picks, and works towards one that isn’t, then when they are ready to start their career, they won’t be able to because it won’t be available.” She learned that from Jackee, our Mentor here at the Lake arrowhead Career Institute. Ashley is a natural perfectionist, and it is the reason why she is so successful, however she is thankful for the help from Jonah Korsten, our College Specialist here at the Lake Arrowhead Career Institute. He gives good advice to all students who want to get educated in the college world.
One of the biggest goals that Ashley accomplished was understanding her financial status. Some examples of what she learned while being in the WIOA program are on how to budget and save money. A challenge she overcame while attending the Career Institute was learning how to juggle two jobs and go to school at the same time. Ashley is a hard worker! She has worked at Jensen’s for a year and a half now, but just recently started an internship three months ago as a desk assistant at the Career Institute. She has learned a lot of skills such as how to appropriately make professional phone calls, file papers, and work a copy machine. She is going to San Bernardino Valley College and has been for the past two years. She has one more semester until she is officially done with her general education, and then will be graduating in the spring of 2018, thus transferring to Cal State San Bernardino in the fall to further her education. She is majoring in psychology however she has not chosen a career to attain in it. Ashley is thankful for everything that the Career Institute has blessed her with.
