For the rest of us. I’m glad she posted this. There are so many beautiful horses and riders we never get to see, but those are the ones we can learn a lot from when they ride through their issues.

I love this reminder! ♥️

"Horses don’t think the same as humans.
Something that’s most unique about the horse, that I love, is not what he possesses but what he doesn’t possess..........and that is greed, spite, hate, jealousy, envy or prejudice.
The horse doesn’t possess any of those things.
If you think about people, the least desirable people to be around usually possess some or all of those things.
And the way God made the horse, he left that out." - Buck Brannaman.

"If we want to create a more harmonious world, we have to be willing to start by healing ourselves, by letting go of our need for control and our willingness to exploit others for our own gain."

The Path to World Peace Begins Within

In her thought-provoking book "A Better World for Horses and Humans", author Stormy May offers a profound and deceptively simple insight that lies at the very heart of her transformative message:

"World peace is a lot of people with inner peace."

It's a statement that challenges us to reconsider the conventional wisdom about how we might go about creating a more harmonious, just and regenerative world. Rather than looking outward to political systems, social movements or sweeping global initiatives, May suggests that the pathway to true, lasting peace begins with the work we do within ourselves - the cultivation of presence, compassion and a profound reverence for the inherent worth of all life.

May draws a direct line between the ways in which we approach our relationships with horses, and the broader patterns of disconnection, exploitation and violence that have long characterized humanity's engagement with the natural world. She argues that until we are willing to do the difficult inner work of confronting our own biases, healing our traumas, and expanding our capacity for empathy, we will remain trapped in cycles of conflict, domination and the perpetuation of harm.

"When we learn to see horses as sentient, autonomous beings worthy of our deepest care and respect," May writes, "it catalyzes a fundamental shift in consciousness. We become more attuned to the interconnectedness of all life, and more committed to creating systems and structures that honor the wellbeing of the whole."

And crucially, May suggests that this principle of inner transformation doesn't just apply to our relationships with animals, but to the very fabric of our human interactions as well. She reminds us that true, sustainable peace on a global scale can only arise when we have done the difficult work of cultivating presence, compassion and a deep reverence for the inherent worth of every being within our own hearts and minds.

"World peace is a lot of people with inner peace," May asserts. "If we want to create a more harmonious world, we have to be willing to start by healing ourselves, by letting go of our need for control and our willingness to exploit others for our own gain."

May herself has walked this path, describing how her own journey of deepening presence, reexamining her beliefs, and forging more harmonious relationships with horses has catalyzed a profound personal transformation. As she has learned to quiet the endless chatter of her own mind, to cultivate empathy and to honor the autonomy of the horses in her care, she has found herself increasingly able to apply those same principles to all of her human interactions as well.

"When I let go of my agendas, my judgments and my need to be 'right'," May writes, "I unlock the capacity to truly listen, to understand, and to find creative, collaborative solutions that serve the wellbeing of all. And that, in turn, has a ripple effect, touching the lives of my fellow humans in ways that I could never have anticipated."

Ultimately, May's invitation is a bold and hopeful one. She reminds us that the pathway to world peace is not some lofty, unattainable ideal, but rather a deeply personal journey of inner work, self-reflection and the expansion of our capacity for presence, compassion and reverence for all life.

"World peace is a lot of people with inner peace," May asserts. "If we want to create a better world, we have to be willing to start by healing ourselves - by becoming the change we wish to see, one heart and mind at a time."

It's a truth that demands our courage, our commitment, and our unwavering dedication to the ongoing work of personal and collective transformation. But in embracing that invitation, May suggests, we just may unlock a more beautiful, harmonious future for us all.

Think of carrying the reins from the back of the elbow. So many riders allow their horses to pull them forward because they are not stabilizing their upper arms.

The best Buck quote ever !

"Until you can walk, trot, canter AND gallop on a loose rein with direction and purpose collection is a JOKE. It's not collection, it's containment for an insecure rider. Containment and paranoia. It's pulling and holding and you're just calling it collection to sound noble." -Buck.
