My first league game of the season for my club team is tomorrow morning.

To this day, I still get nervous before every practice and before every game. Every. Single. Time.

I love this game so much and my hope is that maybe, just maybe, my players can find the joy of the game too. That they can find their lifelong friendships like I have. To find their way through the valleys of pain as much as conquering the mountains that lead to not just wins and losses, but to their values, and purpose, and joys, and loves.

My hope for my kids is to stay healthy, have fun and to get stuck in!

It’s go time tomorrow! Win or lose, I love this sport ⚽️

This is why I coach.

I hope everyone has a season to remember-in a good way.

We play a game. Let’s remember why we play.

Dicen que los deportes son un reflejo de la cultura de un país, una extensión de los gobiernos.

En una de estas redes sociales pude observar un video donde los aficionados japoneses (que por cierto su selección le gano a Colombia), recogían la basura del estadio después del juego. Y son precisamente estos valores, con los que se conduce una sociedad en su diario vivir, los que también se aplican en el terreno de juego: disciplina, orden, responsabilidad, etc. Si, son estos pequeños detalles los que marcan una gran diferencia.
Ante esta acción, viene a mi memoria una frase de Cesar Luis Menotti: “Jugamos como vivimos.”

¡Es una lástima que la selecta no esté ahí! (...) Y lo peor aún, que tan lejos estamos. En este momento, mientras miles y miles de personas en el mundo estan gozando de la participación de sus representativos nacionales, en El Salvador, un expresidente está encarcelado por actos de corrupción; y otro, se encuentra prófugo de la justicia por las mismas razones. Sin duda alguna, y con mucha tristeza, nosotros somos un ejemplo claro del concepto que encabeza este escrito: “Los deportes son un reflejo de la cultura de un país, una extensión de los gobiernos.”
