ARA is a scholastic non-profit program dedicated to promote rowing in the Arlington Community by providing the facilities, opportunities, and encouragement athletes need to succeed.

The "Jason Planke 93"
Today, we proudly rechristened one of our shells in honor of Jason Planke.
A lifelong rower, Jason began his rowing journey in Arlington high school, continued through college, and has remained connected to the sport ever since. His generous donation to our program will help provide opportunities for our athletes.
It's especially meaningful that his rowing legacy continues through his connection to one of our current rowers, reminding us that our crew family spans generations.
Thank you, Jason, for your generosity, your dedication to rowing, and your continued support of our team. We are honored to carry your name on the water.

A word to the graduates...

Today is your day
A day all parents look forward to
A day of happy and sad tears
A day when you shed a layer of your youth
But step into the next phase of life
You may encounter challenges,
The roads you choose may have some bumps,
But as you already have proven,
You will persevere
You will be as proud as you are today,
Your parents as always will be there to guide you,
So today celebrate and revel in your success!

Happy Graduation Day, seniors!
For this admin, I met half of you as freshman, one a sophmore, one just this year, and one at birth. I see all of you as a great representation of our community. Your kindness, intelligence, and positive energy is infectious and I cannot wait to see what you will accomplish in the future. It has been an honor watching you grow into the amazing young men and woman that you are. Your teammates, coaches, and families are so proud. Congratulations, Class of 2026!

Last but definitely not least, Caleb Wellington, congratulations!

It’s time to hang up the oars and celebrate this massive achievement. You are officially oar-some!

How long have you done Crew?: 

4 Years

What made you start?: 

Random club event and I knew some people in crew.

What are your plans after high school?: 

Go to University at Buffalo and get my masters in Biomedical Engineering.

If you are going to college, will you row in college?: 

I will be rowing in college.

Will you come back and row as an adult?: 

Probably not.

What is your favorite part about being on the crew team?: 

The river and some of the people you meet.

Best song to do a 2k to?: 

I have 3, "SAE" from Blue lock, "Garp's galaxy impact" from One Piece, and "Self-Embodiment of Perfection" from JJK.

What's something you wish you knew as a novice?:

End of Season Banquet

Another crew season ending with many changes ahead for our seniors. Your teammates and parents are very proud of you. As for those not graduating, this is the moment you should use to reflect about your next steps but also relax and enjoy being your age.

How long have you done Crew?

6 Years

What made you start?

Many of my teammates on my swim team were rowers and highly encouraged my brother and I to try the sport.  During COVID, all the pools were closed but HRRA was having a learn to row class.  My brother wanted to try it, and at first I did not want to sign up, but changed my mind last minute and haven't left the boathouse since.

What are your plans after high school?

I will be attending Union College and studying Astronomy and Biology.

If you are going to college, will you row in college?

Yes! I will be a member of the Union College Women's Crew Team and competing at the Division III level. Go Garnet Chargers!

Will you come back and row as an adult?

I want to keep rowing in my life for as long as possible, so I will definitely look for a rowing club to join wherever I end up.

What is your favorite part about being on the crew team?

The people.  I am so grateful for the amazing friends and memories that I have made.

Best song to do a 2k to?

The Last of the Real Ones by Fall Out Boy

What’s something you wish you knew as a novice?

Never take a water day for granted...the Hudson is unpredictable!

We also had a couple of our members play with the Arlington High School Orchestra. The show was fabulous. All the students that performed have so much talent.
