John Syer is a fishing guide on Lake Travis and provides half/full day service on weekends.

With the daylight change, John provides a discounted 3.5 hour weekday evening trip.

Well, after 6 years, I’ve decided to end my guide service. I’ve had some good times but I’m ready to focus on my health, my regular job and helping my daughters become adults. I thought I’d end it with Owen one of my first customers. No doubt he could be another Jacob Wheeler. He was amazing fisherman at 6 years. Could cast like a pro. Anyway, I have a lot of memories but time to move on. Tight lines y’all.

Spring equinox, SXSW, and break is upon us. It’s time to go fishing. Had a great time this weekend with Father and son / son-in-law trips. Numbers at 12-15 with largest at 4lbs this weekend. A little slower due to the cold mornings. The bite is only going to get better with the warmer temperatures and the shad spawn which already going on up river. My favorite time of year. There is a 7.5 lb in the mix during the past two week’s. 🎣

It’s Fishing and Football season again. The numbers caught are back up with size. This morning, We got 16 in the boat up to 1.5-2 lbs and lost a couple of good size fish. One that John couldn’t turn with the spinning rig. It’s time to go fishing! Give me a shout. 🎣

July can be tough but Henry and Josh caught some good ones. Numbers are down but their still biting. 🎣

It’s was a windy one on Saturday but we manage to catch up to 15 with a kicker of 5 lbs. However I’m the one who caught the big one unfortunately. That’s why I leave my rod on the deck most of the time. 🎣

Tax time!! Great time to sit inside and watch the Pro’s fish in the cold weather. Dreaming of warm weather and the busy season.

The weather in December can be mild and pleasant fishing trips are still on the menu. A recent weekend trip included 70 deg weather and +20 fish caught. As this year comes to a close, I have weekends and some weekdays around the holidays. Remember, Fall is not over yet. December is the last month of the fall bite here in Central Texas. Give me a call and let’s go. 🎣

To all my fellow veterans. It was quite a ride and I’d do it again. Beside my family, One of most proudest moments of my life was to lead a platoon of combat engineers (sappers) in Iraq 04-05. 1st platoon Alpha, 386th Engineers (combat mech). Leader of the pack. Cheers to all of you and hope you have a wonderful day.

It’s the weekend you dream of in August as the lows were 40-50’s and the weather was beautiful. Good numbers with up to 20 caught with the largest 3 lbs. Fall is finally here! 🎣

Had a great time with Maddison and Steven morning. Great father and daughter trip. Low was 45 F this morning and the weather was beautiful. Fall is finally here! 🎣
