Coach Chaney is hanging up his boots after 29 years of hosting the Just 4 Kicks Soccer Camp! July 8-12 will be our last camp! Spaces are still available! Join us for the Grand Finale!
Below is the letter from Coach David...
Dear Parents and Coaches,
As many of you know, this year the Just 4 Kicks Soccer Camp is celebrating our 29 year as “One of Acadiana’s Best Offerings for Kids!” It’s truly amazing when I think of all the campers I’ve had the opportunity to work with over the years. I feel extremely blessed that God has allowed me to share my love of soccer with children from the Acadiana area. Naturally, I couldn’t have done it alone. It takes a lot of great coaches, which I’m proud to say I’ve had some of the best! They work very hard each day to teach our campers new skills, while making it fun at the same time!
When I started the Just 4 Kicks Soccer Camp in 1991, I had no idea I would still be hosting camps almost 30 years later. I’ve had the pleasure of working with thousands and thousands of campers and coaches, while seeing many of them go on to have successful careers for their clubs, high schools and even colleges!
As I get older, I realize that in spite of how much I love putting on camp, it has become more and more difficult for me to maintain the same energy level I had when I was younger. As a result, after speaking with my family, I have decided to make the July 8-12, 2019 camp my Swan Song. After 29 years of hosting the Just 4 Kicks Soccer Camp, I have decided to hang up my boots. Naturally, it was a very, very difficult decision, but I know it is the right decision. I love working with kids and take great pride in offering a quality camp that fosters a love of soccer for so many children. Unfortunately, as Geoffrey Chaucer once said, “All good things must come to an end.”
I realize there are several younger children who were hoping to attend the Just 4 Kicks Soccer Camp, as their siblings have done in the past. I also know there are several campers who previously attended camp, who would like to spend one more week with us before things come to an end! If you know anyone in this position, please let them know the July 8-12 camp will be our Grand Finale! We still have spaces available and there’s still time to register.
In closing, I would like to thank everyone for the support you have given me over the past 29 years. It has been a great run and I know I’ll probably regret my decision, when next summer rolls around. I wish all of our campers and their families the best of luck in the future! I will definitely miss seeing you each summer and performing my grape trips for you during the breaks.
Keep Kicking,
Coach David
